Dr Habekost is an excellent dentist. He thoroughly explains what he is going to do before he does it. He is easy to talk to and answers your questions/concerns. I needed periodontal surgery and was very concerned about the procedure due to the horror stories I had heard about that surgery from friends. I explained that to Dr Habekost and he assured me that it was not as bad as I had been led to believe. What he told me turned out to be fact. Sure there was a little pain but nothing close to what I was expecting. He is thorough, efficient and very competent dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Habekost if you need periodontal treatment. The treatment he gave me solved the dental problem I was having.

I have gone to Dr. Habekost for gum rebuilding. He is very professional, and very very competent.
He did a splendid job, with fantastic after surgery follow up. He is the only doctor who has ever called me on the evening after the procedure to see how I was doing!!

I searched for about a year for a good periodontist with a good office management who deals properly with insurance. He is a good doctor and his office manager for insurance and billing is pretty competent. I did one of the two gum recession surgeries I needed, successfully. Dr. Habekost uses a material called Aloderm to replace the gum (instead of taking it from top of your mouth). This means the procedure is less painful but here is the catch. He expects higher compensation for his method, but he is in the network (at least mine) and insurance pays him a negotiated amount. To get around this problem his office charges for the material separately and when insurance rejects they bill the patients. Of course, an in-the-network doctor can not do this, and after I brought it up they were nice enough to waive most of what they wanted me to pay in addition to standard copayment. However, they also refused service for my 2nd gum surgery as I didn't think it's fair to pay more than 4 times higher than my normal copayment and more than 2 times higher than the most expensive periodontist in this area.
In short, we have a good doctor with exprienced office manager, but a twisted confusing way of dealing with insurance.

I went to see Dr. Habekost for some perio work I needed done. He was just fabulous! I wasn't very thrilled about the work that had to be done, but he was so kind & funny, he made me forget how bad it was! He was always upbeat & funny. His staff is extremely kind & helpful too. If I need more work done, it's him that I will go to!

I do not live in the San Jose area, in fact, I live in Santa Barbara. I made the decision to travel to see Dr. Habekost because I had heard that he was exceptionally good at what he does. Not to sound like a chicken... but I hate pain. Dr. Habekost not only was able to do some pretty intensive work on my teeth and gums but did so with a very minimal amount of pain. What makes this doctor different from the others was both his exceptional and warm personality as well as his grasp of the latest technology and procedures that enabled him to perform the procedures in a short amount of time with literally no pain even though he was pretty sneaky about distracting me as he numbed things up. If your looking for the best in the field of periodontics, and you happen to live closer than I did, then your ahead of the game. Dr. Habekost is simply the best out there.

DR. HABEKOST IS BOTH PROFESSIONAL AND VERY HUMORUS. THE STAFF IS NICE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. I COMPARED THE COST TO OTHER PERIODONTISTS IN THE AREA AND DOCTOR HABEKOST'S FEES WERE LESS THAN ANY OTHER ESTIMATE IS WAS GIVEN. I HAD A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE AT HIS OFFICE AND MY GENERAL DENTIST WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE RESULTS AND NOW I AM DISEASE FREE. DR. HABEKOST IS AVAILABLE ANYTIME UNLIKE OTHER DENTISTS I HAVE BEEN TO SEE.
