Dr. Phillips has been my dentist for over 10 years. He created a very difficult front crown that has completly changed my smile and my confidence. He takes tremendous care with his work are really takes pride in work well done as evidenced in the work he has done on simple fillings. I have recommended Dr. Phillips and his Hygeinists to several friends and 3 of them are now his satisfied patients. I highly recommend Dr. Dan and am grateful for the work he continues to do in my mouth.

I saw Dr. Phillips many years ago when I lived in SF before. When I moved back, I looked him up and became his patient again. The dentists that I saw when I was away said that his dental work was the best that they had ever seen! My last dentist recommended that two of my crowns be redone but when I came back to Dr. Phillips he told me that it was unnecessary. Very nice guy. Highly recommended!

I paid a pretty penny, and got especially pretty results. Dr. Philips seeks perfection--and that's what I wanted.

Dr. Phillips is everything you want in a dentist - professional, courteous, efficient. He will take the time to explain things to you, and he is great at returning calls. Last year when I needed my first crown and root canal, he was very conservative and took me through the procedure step-by-step. The only negative I can say is that you really have to book your regular check-ups far in advance. The hygientist schedules fill up very quickly. Pick a date and put it on your calendar at the end of your regular check-up. Otherwise, you might not find many options later on.

excellent dentist, probably the best experience I've had with my teeth...which are crumbly and have seen many dentists in the past

I have been using Dr. Phillips for the past 15 years at the recommendation of my father. Aside from being far from my residence (over 40 miles away), I have nothing but praise to say about Dr. Phillips. He has a gentle, quiet, yet professional demeanor, and he never "presses" you into making a decision that you are uncertain of. I recently switched to my wife's dentist because of his locality to my home, but must tell you, I had the most absolute worst experience with a dentist in my lifetime. As such, I have returned to Dr. Phillips and will make the 40 mile trek to get his expertise. The one important thing to note about Dr. Phillips... he will not recommend a procedure that is not necessary. He is effective in his decision making and takes into consideration the longevity of the work, the overall costs, and the aesthetic impact of the procedure. He's not in it to gouge you or the insurance carrier for cash. He has called me back for personal consultations whenever I call him. He makes himself available. He is conscientious. I highly recommend him.

The previous reviewer must be a real jerk! I have known Dr. Phillips since 1975 when I first went to see him. At the time, I was very happy with his service. I moved to another area and my new dentist said that my dental work was the best he had ever seen. I recently returned to San Francisco and looked up Dr. Phillips to return to his office as a patient. I just saw him today and found him extremely courteous and professional. He even remember me from almost 30 years ago! He told me that I didn't need expensive new crowns that my previous dentist recommended. He said my teeth were in great condition and just needed cleaning. Anyway, when I found this site, I was very sad that someone had posted something so nasty about Dr. Phillips and wanted to share my experiences with him. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Phillips. Don't pay attention to the jerk who posted before me.

I went to Dr. Philips for a few years, I wouldn't recommend him due to his lack of professionalism in scheduling, overbilling practices, and general bad vibe in his office. I had one of the worst cleanings of my life there, my gums were actually bleeding for a few hours afterwards due to the fast pace and ill-regard with which the hygenist was working. Also the receptionists there treat you with contempt - I actually left this last time without getting the cleaning I was scheduled for due to thier incompetance - then Dr. Philips himself actually called me into a back room to chat with me about a previously missed appointment, informing me that as 'payback' he had actually cancelled the rescheduled appointment but without telling me, thus making me drive all the way across town for nothing but this strange back room confrontation - with my dentist! Growing uncomfortable with Dr. Philips confrontational attitude and the fact that I couldn't figure out what his purpose was except to berate me for a missed appointment, I got up and left, informing Dr. Philips that I would let his office know where to send my dental records. Seriously the worst treatment I've recieved in my life from a 'medical professional' of any kind - humiliating!
