I remember Dr. Brian Stearns and his staff more than 10 years ago! I was 20 when I got my braces from him. The Doc and his staff were all very friendly and accomodating back then(I don't know about today). He never made me wait more than 20 minutes when I had an appointment. My son is getting ready to have braces soon and I intend to bring him to Dr. Stearns. Thank goodness he is still around and that I saw his number posted on the train and recognized it! Maria

I went to Dr. Stearn's downtown Manhattan office. He was very friendly, and the assistants were helpful. I had an open bite, and he was the only orthodontist that provided an alternative to surgery (using rubber-bands). Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Stearn. (I could not give a 4-star rating because it is impossible to determine whether he is the best without having experience with other orthodontists)

BEWARE! Before beginning treatment with Brian Stearn DDS, he informed me that I needed 4 teeth extracted to correct my open bite. I was extremely hesitant but foolishly trusted him. For 3.5 years, I wore lingual braces. In addition to monthly visits, I returned every other month for repairs. Most upsetting, to close the gaps created by the extractions, Dr. Stearn pulled all of my teeth inward so that they are now angled the wrong way! I expressed my concerns both verbally and in writing throughout my treatment but Dr. Stearn promised that in the end (no time frame ever given), my teeth would be 99.7% perfect. Worse, he repeatedly told me that I had "patient syndrome" and was looking in the mirror too often, causing me to see things that others did not. Despite concerns from family and friends, I continued treatment in the hopes that my $9,000+ and 3.5 years of suffering would pay off. In March 2005, Dr. Stearn informed me that my teeth were "near perfect" and that my treatment was a "huge success." I am devastated and have since consulted with my dentist and 2 other orthodontists. They all confirmed that I need corrective treatment.
