I was referred to Dr. Blanton by our family dentist to do a crown on my 4 year old son. That treatment was successful, however costly. The issue started when he had a follow-up and I was told that he needed 4 Plasti-Seals (preventative sealant used on high risk baby teeth). At the time my husband was unemployed and I couldn't afford it. Fast forward, 5 months and we go in for his checkup and I'm told that he has 5 cavities. The treatment plan that they quote me is $850 over the course of 3 visits. On the advice of a family member, I took him to another dentist for a second opinion to find out that he only has 1 cavity and that his back teeth are fine. She doesn't even recommend that he have the Plasti-Seals done right now. The fact that I was going to be charged erroneously for treatment that he didn't need makes me angry enough, but the fact that they were going to do unnecessary fillings on 4 of his teeth knowing that he is terrified of drills and has a strong gag reflex makes me livid.

About Front Desk: They have typically been very helpful, but were kind of rude when I called back to ask why the charge was so much higher for his than it was for my daughter at another dentist.

Dr Blanton is very good with children but has no time to talk to parents. Her staff does everything for her except the exam. Money had to be paid before appointment could be made and before insurance was filed for a crown on my 5 year old son. I changed him to our family dentist soon after since he was able to tolerate the dental work without having to sedate him. This was November 2011. Now it is November 2012 and the crown is gone and needs to be replaced. Dr Blanton's office not only wants me to pay AGAIN for the crown but wants me to pay for an office visit for her to even look at the tooth. I have a hard time reasoning a crown could last less than a year, even on a 5 year old, and an even harder time that I have to pay more money. Insurance: CIGNA
