I looked up reviews of this dental office and saw that they had a history of telling patients that they have gum disease and needed antibiotics and deep cleaning. Despite this, I still went because it was the closest dental office in my HMO. I sat down, got checked by Dr. Sood who told me - yup, I have beginning stages of gum disease that needed deep cleaning! Turns out she told my husband in the next room the same thing ten minutes later. She gave my husband an estimate of $1600 to "fix" his problems (which he immediately turned down). My estimate was $600 but I was worried that she might be right and accepted the deep cleaning for $230. The deep cleaning was equivalent to the regular cleaning of my previous dentists; it was deeper scraping that didn't require numbing or anything like that. The regular cleaning was subpar if you turned down the extra services (according to my husband); not much scraping and ended in about five minutes. In between estimates and checkups and cleaning, you can expect to sit idle with nothing to read or look at for upwards of 30-45 minutes. We are now willing to drive miles to another dentist just so we do not have to return to this one.
