My kids and I have been seeing Dr. Bui since they were little. With the kids, he's always been patient, gentle and respectful. I also appreciate that he only fills cavities if necessary (ignoring those in soon to be lost baby teeth). With me, he's not only very gentle, but goes to great lengths to insure that I don't feel any discomfort. The cosmetic work he did on my teeth was excellent. Hi office manager is also very good: friendly, organized, easy to reach. And there's never a wait of more than 5 minutes. I can't recommend Dr. Bui strongly enough.

About Front Desk: Nancy is wonderful. Always friendly and smiling, and willing to bill our insurance even though Dr. Bui isn't on our plan.

About Hygienist: To my knowledge, Dr. Bui doesn't have a hygienist. He cleans our teeth himself. Kind of like an old-fashioned dentist.

Hygiene time: 20

AVOID this dentist for any cosmetic work. Cosmetic skill with Bui is absent. He claims to have skill creating and installing front teeth crowns. Question his training before you proceed. Get specific. Do the research. His fee is higher than most and higher than even an advanced-degree, highly trained, REAL cosmetic dentist. The crowns were agreed to be feldspathic porcelain, but the results are something other than feldspathic porcelain. Bui's process for installing crowns is unusual. Bui's reason for pushing the crowns under the gums with extreme and unusual force is that not to do so would result in a "disaster". The disaster is letting Bui do cosmetic work at all. Bui's lack of skill results in a very uncomfortable and misaligned bite. To attempt to correct the bite after he permanently installs the crowns, Bui files the backs of the crowns multiple times thereby creating thinner and weaker crowns but still not correcting the fit and bite problem. More highly trained dentists than Bui describe Bui's work result as crowns that are "not functional", yet Bui maintains his results are good. Replacement of the crowns is necessary, but Bui refuses to refund the cost. Beware.

Dr. Bui is an unusual in the sense that he's the only dentist I've ever encountered that consistently tells me that I don't need some expensive procedure yet. He is very good at not overbooking his schedule. I get an hour with him every time and never feel like he's rushing to get to another patient. My previous dentist would work on 2-3 patients at a time while working with Hygienists. When you go to Dr. Bui, he treats you himself the full time. I'm also impressed that each time I see him, he remembers exactly what my dental issues were previously. I'm sure he takes good notes, but he also remembers things about my personal life. Amazing dentist. Amazing person.

I really like Dr. Bui. I searched for a long time for a dentist in DC who I felt comfortable with, and I'm relieved that I finally found him. He has done 2 fairly large composite fillings in molars for me, and both of them were perfect. The cost was in the $200-$250 range for a filling. He also evaluated a third tooth which is causing me discomfort and told me I need a root canal. It is a molar with issues, and even though he does root canals, he was honest enough to say that I should have it done by an endodontist. He did a cleaning as well, and it was one of the best cleanings I've ever had. He works alone, and does everything himself. I like this fact, as I have been in several dental offices that seemed bloated with staff. He is a holistic-oriented dentist, which is the main reason I chose him. His office is not "spa-like" - but I found it to be very comfortable and serene. Another great thing about Dr Bui is he will answer any and all of your questions, and he will return your calls even if you are not yet a patient. And his receptionist Nancy is super nice. The only negative I can think of is, he does not have digital x-rays.

About Hygienist: There is no hygienist, as Dr Bui does cleanings himself. He first used an ultrasonic tool, then a hand tool, then floss, then polish. My mouth felt great afterwards. His receptionist Nancy is great.
