Dr. Handel no longer takes our insurance- because they had issues with getting paid in time. Now we have to pay Dr. Handel 100% of the fee then get reimbursed. It seems like they are too interested in getting reimbursed than taking care of their patients. Also when you have a cleaning you never see Dr. Handel. Normally the dentist stops by to say hi and check for cavities, not Dr. Handel.

About Front Desk: Every visit they make you sign and initial the treatment cost and it just seems overdone. More concerned about $$$ then providing patient care.

About Hygienist: Karen is a decent hygienist but is too chatty about her personal life.

Hygiene time: 30

My Experience: Exam & Consultation, X-Rays

Duration: One house

General cleaning & cavities. Good dentist. The only problem I'm having is that he's added a new dentist who doesn't appear to be as responsive.

Hygiene rating:

About Hygienist: I don't like the hygienists as much as I used to. I feel like they're pushing treatments on me.

Hygiene time: 20

The office does not know how to properly check insurance coverage. They would rather say, it's ok to get procedure A done instead of doing their homework on the policy. I had to pay nearly a grand out of pocket because they did not do their job. Thank goodness I did not go in for futher treatments as I probably would have paid out even more money... horrible office mgt.

See a lot of the Hygientist and little of the dentist. When you do see him he is pleasant, professional and good at what he does.

About Hygienist: The hygientist up-sells additional cleanings and electric toothbrushes.

Dr. Handel is the best dentist I've ever had in my life (and I've been to about 6 or 7... like a hairdresser, once I have a bad experience I just quietly leave to find another). I had to leave his practice because of insurance carrier changes, and the first thing out of my mouth when my employer switched dental insurance back to BCBS was, "YES!!! Now I can go back to Dr. Handel!!" He is extremely friendly and professional, and his techs give the best cleanings imaginable. He uses a very strict sanitary protocol, i.e. dental dams when he's drilling, so none of that bacteria and material gets swallowed... and he even swabs your gum with novacaine before injections, so you feel NOTHING!!! Such care is highly unique for me, and I can't wait to return to him!

wow, this dentist is fantastic. our son had some bonding work done on his two front teeth by a pediatric dentist. Never again. Dr. Handel did a great job of re-doing the bonding and my son's teeth look like they did before he chipped them.

In three years of twice annual cleanings, I never saw Dr. Handel. Hygienists were competent, but it's important for patient confidence to have the presence of the doctor.

Dr. Handel has wonderful chair-side manners and his office staff are helpful and very friendly. They accept many different kinds of insurance and have payment plans as well.
