Dr. Sakurai and his staff are great. Before Dr. Sakurai, I've had nothing but bad experiences with dentists-- misfiling my x-ray, delayed billing (and not applying payments), hard to get appointment, etc. Dr. Sakurai's staff are accomodating and knowledgeable. They are also very nice and makes you feel comfortable. After treatments, I feel like I treated my teeth and gums to the spa!

Dr. Sakurai and his exceptional staff provide some of the best services I've ever received.
This is an exceptional dental office! The staff is very friendly and, while this popular office is quite busy and it can be tough to schedule an initial exam, since becoming a patient they've always gotten me in quickly for any problem (even minor pain or chips).
I received about 30 recommendations from friends and coworkers to visit Dr. Sakurai when I first moved to the area-- and I'm glad that I did. In turn I've recommended Dr. Sakurai to many friends and acquaintances and not one of us has been disappointed. The exceptional service even extends so far as to provide dvd entertainment for patients DURING TREATMENT!
At this point I factor Dr. Sakurai's location into my plans for relocation or job changes. I've used other dentists before, and I don't want to go back.
If you can make it to Marina Del Rey-- this should be your dentist.

Dr. Sakurai helped to save my teeth! I went to him upon the recommendation of a friend after I had two fillings replaced poorly. The teeth with the replacement filliings were sensitive to heat, cold and pressure. Dr. Sakurai was careful and conservative in his treatment, and he has eliminated all of the sensitivity to heat and cold in both teeth. One is still sensitive to pressure, and it looks like further treatment is my only option, but at least I feel like my teeth are in good hands with Dr. Sakurai. Also cool to note, you can watch movies on little goggles while he works on your mouth.

Like the first reviewer, I have been extremely happy with Dr. Sakurai. I first started going to him when he was working at Dr. Bill Harrison's office in Brentwood over fifteen years ago, and followed him over to Marina Del Rey when he opened his own office.
Again, like the first reviewer, I've been very impressed with Ken's attention to detail. I can tell just by comparing the fillings that he's done against the ones that were done by my previous dentist. Ken's fillings follow the natural contour of the tooth exactly, and the edges blend so well into the surrounding tooth that the only reason you'd know that a filling was there was from the metallic color of the filling itself.
Ken is very skilled at pain management, always making sure throughout every procedure that you're comfortable.
Staff is very friendly, espeically his wife, Diane, who works the front desk in the afternoons.

The best dentist I have been to in my life.
Courteous, professional, friendly. I recommend Dr. Sakurai to everyone. This is a person, who cares deeply about the quality of his work. He is a perfectionist, which is what I think every dentist should be. There was never any issue with any of the work , he had done for me. The staff is very professional and friendly. If the appointment is made for 2:30, then 2:30 exactly is when you will see the doctor. There is never a wait, and the office has a very calming setting. Before the work begins, you are offered a video, from the video library. There is quite a selection of DVDs for all tasted. When the work is being done, you are given special goggles and an ear set, so you can relax and enjoy the video. At first I thought the movie is not going to distract me, since I was not the kind to enjoy my dentist visits, but I was wrong. I really got into the movie, and the whole visit was a pleasure. I wish all the medical visits were as enjoyable as my dentist appointments.
I have been a patient of this doctor for 5 years, my husband for 10. I plan on staying a patient for life.
