I am extremely picky with doctors. I was extremely impressed with the treatment I got about 5 years ago from Dr. Famili when I used to lived in LA. He is an excellent dentist. During my sojourns in the country, I am originally from the east coast. I would say in Western Massachusetts, I found really capable dentists. I live in the bay area now, but I make it a point of going down to Southern California to visit Dr. Famili because he is my #1 dentist of choice. When a doctor is knowledgeable, his expertise put his patients at ease and not at alarm. I trust Dr. Famili's knowledge. His treatments are very thorough, diagnosis accurate and full of knowledge, and he will avoid unnecessary steps to your oral health! Thank you Dr. Famili

I had a HORRIBLE experience with this office. I come into the office and no one was at the front desk. When someone finally came by I had to fill out new patient forms and waited for 30 min until someone took me to the back. When I was finally taken back to have X-rays taken, it took ONE HOUR. X-rays should take 5 min. The assistant didn't really seem to know what she was doing which really drew out the process. So at this point, I've waited for an hour and a half and all I want is to have the dentist come by and look and my teeth and the hygienist to start the standard cleaning. The dentist finally comes by and looks at my teeth and says they looks great. He makes a comment about how I need to be careful with my wisdom teeth and I tell him quickly that I don't want them removed as most dentists try to get me to do unnecessarily. He snaps back at me and says "did I tell you to remove them?" I'm like well other dentists have. He repeats the question and walks way which was so incredibly rude. I'm thinking ok, let's get the show on the road and get the cleaning done which was the only reason why I came in the first place. The assistant comes back and hands me an appointment card for the scheduled cleaning the following month. Excuse me? I waited an hour and a half and I wanted to get the cleaning done now. They said Dr. Famili was busy and he does all cleanings and new patients only get exams and no actual treatment for their first visit. This would've been nice to know when I had called in for the appointment and asked for an exam AND a cleaning and it was confirmed. So my advice - don't go to this place. I have never been to a dentist that does not do an exam and a cleaning on the first visit. The only reason why they do this in the first place is so they can get paid for 2 visits instead of one. AND to top it all off, Dr. Famili had some offensive pictures on his wall. There was a caricature of him examining a female patient with a speech bubble with the words "I'd rather be with the twins" and a picture of 2 girls with big boobs. Wow, seriously?? If after that you still want to see this dentist, good luck to you.

I had an awful experience with Dr. Famili. When I went in for my first exam, he said 4 teeth needed to be fixed. At my second appointment two weeks later, for some reason it was now 6 teeth. I suspect some of the work he did was unnecessary. Furthermore, he was incredibly rude. When he first began, I was nervous. He responded by pushing back his chair, telling me to come back another day after taking some Valium and Xanax. I was shocked! I should have left right then, but for some inexplicable reason, I didn't. So, he started working. But midway through, he would abruptly get up leave, without telling me why, and disappear for 1/2 hour at a time (happened more than once). I figured out that he was working on other patients. It was bizarre. In all, in order to get three cavities filled, I was in his office for 3 hours and fifteen minutes! One last example. Midway through the exam, he turned away for a minute, and I guess I moved my head slightly. When he looked back at my mouth, he said "goddamit, you just ruined everything i just did." Seriously, wtf? He is a totally unprofessional, nasty person. Stay away!!!!

I have been a patient of Dr Famili's for over 20 years, starting as a 4 year old scared kid. He has been nothing but professional, kind and compassionate and is willing to do whatever it takes to provide the best quality service for my specific needs. I hope he never retires!
