Dr. Oogle won't let me do cheap and health spa at the same rating. I leave RELAXED and I know I pay standard fees.
Dr. Begin is so careful and kind. He runs a one man office and schedules so there is only one patient in his office at a time. He does everything to his standards which are high. He is one of 12 dentists in the area that is rated by his peers as having the highest standards of professionalism and is most affordable.
I take meds that wreck my mouth. The medication warnings say "You may want to schedule more than two evaluations with your dentist per year" which is an understatement. I've developed as many as 13 caries in 3 months so I see a lot of Dr. Begin.
In all the time I've seen him, he has never hurt me. I promise you, that is saying a LOT.
He is easy going. His manner is calming and I have complete trust in him. He is more concerned about my finances than I am and THAT is saying a WHOLE LOT. I have complete confidence in his treatment plans. The fact that my smile is not a Hollywood Smile is NOT his fault. There is no one who could have done it better without pulling every tooth and replacing them all. I still have most of my own teeth and that is a miracle.
About Front Desk: Dr. Begin is his own front desk. He schedules his patients so they don't overlap so you have his entire attention.

I had an initial consult. The experience was unpleasant, due to his rude demeanor. Schedule was a pain, given that he does not have a receptionist.

Good Grief!!! I gave Begin 4 stars for "like a health spa" because I always feel well tended, relaxed and cared for and four stars for "extremely cheap" since he charges according to insurance forms and although some insurance companies allow higher fees which would allow him to charge more at no additional cost to the patient, he sticks to the regular rates. This program won't let me give 4 stars in both categories.
Even though I think his kind of financial integrity should be rewarded, I am going to change four stars to three stars because I basically don't like filling out these forms and rarely do.
I've been going to Dr. Begin since 2002. I have dreadful dental problems due to medications and sjogrens so I get cleaned every 3 to 4 months. I find him kind, considerate and professional.
Begin runs a one man shop because he is obsessive about patient care. If he does it, it is done to his exacting standards. Because he is pain free, I actually look forward to my dental appointments. I know he is determined I have the best possible outcomes.
About Front Desk: Dr. Begin does all his own paperwork and scheduling. As he doesn't like to have patients waiting around and he is good about estimating how long things take, I rarely even see another patient.

He's very calm (and calming) and factual. I believe he is well-regarded among fellow dental professionals. I always recommend him. He's had the same one-man office (no receptionist) in a townhouse on Capitol Hill for 30 years, but he will be moving to new offices on C St., SE at the end of 2011. Obviously his prices have gone up, but I suspect they are lower than average overall.

Dr. Begin runs a one-man show, but has a loyal following. He was straight forward and clear about what my teeth needed, and he worked with me to figure out how my insurance would cover the fillings I needed.

Dr. Begin is "pain free." I have a rare disorder which causes my teeth to decay (18 caries in past year) plus I have CPS which heightens the pain response. Dr. Begin takes justifiable pride in his work and I highly recommend him.

After years of being very nervous about going to the dentist -- so much so that I avoided it for years -- I finally had to make an appointment with someone.
A good friend recommended Dr. Begin and I went -- after a mostly sleepless night.
Well, his demeanor and patience -- and his whole manner -- put me at such ease -- that I actually started looking forward to going! I was amazed! I was so comfortable and he was so easy to deal with and get along with -- I stayed with him as he worked on several of my teeth -- and filled all my cavaties.
I couldn't recomment him more highly. If you have the slightest concern about dental care -- or worry about going to be treated -- look no further! He's the best!

I have been a patient of Dr Begin for more than 10 years. He's an excellent craftsman at his work. His prices are reasonable. He's a one person office and keeps his practice low key with a very loyal following. He's quite pleasant. I look forward to my 6 month appointments. He is down to earth and down to business.
Overall, I would have to say that there has been relatively little pain on the occassions I needed a cap, etc. I don't know about insurance. I don't have dental insurance.
