I went to Doctor Powell almost 4 plus years ago. I had periodontal (spelling?) disease and had loose teeth in the upper front. He laid out a treatment program starting with removal of my 2 front teeth and 2 on the right with my wearing a partial until all the work was completed. He explained that I would have a partial that would hook onto my existing teeth and that I would have them in one day. I had them in one day but it wasn't anything like he advised. It was a partial that I would have to use adhesive, I went back to him after several days for adjustment as my mouth was sore where the partial was sticking into my gums. When I asked him again about the shrinkage and the alignment seemed off, he told me, "your teeth are falling out anyway - what difference does it make?!" Even though I was in pain I wasn't about to let him get away with it. I told him that I came to him for help and his idea of help was to publicly humiliate me. That I had every right to ask as many questions or to question the methods at any time. I told him he should be ashamed of himself. I was already traumatized. I took my teeth he extracted and left. He called me several days later on my workphone and apologized. I kept the message.
About Front Desk: Front desk staff was pleasant enough. As I left after giving Dr. Powell a piece of my mind, they almost looked like they wanted to give me a standing ovation. Today is the first day I am going back to a dentist (that is how traumatized I was by what happened to me with Dr. Powell - 4 plus years later).

I just had my first dental cleaning and exam in 8 years. This was done with my old braces on. I was nervous about getting a cleaning, and thought it would hurt. They were extremely friendly, and very gentle. They discovered a sensitive area in my mouth,and took care to completely avoid that area for the rest of the visit. I am following up to have a small amount of work done, and I feel very confident that my experience then will be just as positive, and pain free. They are so gentle I'm considering transferring my 6 year old daughter to their care. They are that good, and that gentle! This will be my lifetime dentist, I'll never go anywhere else! :o)
Also, this site will not allow me to rate them a solid 4 stars, siting that "dentist with facilities like a health spa are never extremely cheap." Well, Dr. Oogle, you are wrong. Their facilities are clean, and comfortable, and they ARE extremely cheap. My insurance paid for my entire cleaning, and I paid nothing out of pocket. So despite the 3 stars, I am giving them a solid 4 stars! Amazing place! (Dr. Oogle, perhaps you should visit and see for yourself!)
About Hygienist: Sue was my hygienist, and she is such a warm and friendly person! She did a complete job on cleaning my teeth, even working around my braces. She complimented me on my oral hygiene. (Something I was really nervous about, since I hadn't been to the dentist in nearly a decade.) She and Dr. Powell have a great rapport, and I feel very comfortable and relaxed in their care. I'm sending my husband in for his cleaning and checkup next! :o)

Dr Powell and his staff are excellent. I don't have dental insurance so I pay as I go. His rates seem pretty much along the lines of everyone else I've talked to. Oh, one more thing (for all of us chickens) , He gives the most painless injections I have EVER had.

I have been seeing Dr. Powell for 14 years and have always had great visits. The staff is super friendly and always willing to work with schedules, insurance, whatever you need. I would recommend him to anyone!

I have been going to Dr.Powell for 2years now and I am very happy. The staff is great! Dr. Powell is willig to answer any questions you have and will always give you his honest opinion. He is also very generous with his time and any aspiring dentists! The office has been newly remodeled and its wonderful! Highly recommend him.

I love Dr. Powell and his friendly staff. I have been a patient for over 16 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else!
