Dr. Pfost is our Family's dentist and they have been absolutely fantastic with us. We highly recommend them for general dentistry as well as pediatric dentistry. Dr. Pfost is an amazing dentist and is a huge advocate of preventative care. Very kind and gentle, always gets the work done on time and I love that he cares about the patient's level of comfort during the procedure as well as dealing with any anxiety issues before hand. Could not recommend a better Dentist in the Boise area!

Do not go here. Dr pfost hurt a nerve in my mouth w the numbing injection. The initial shot was painful. He admitted he broke my nerve w the injection with no remorse or apology. It has been several months, I still have pain and I suffer from daily pain. The fillings he did were very small and a couple of them hurt now when I eat. I also had to go back several times because my bite was uneven from his fillings. The staff made me feel like I was lying to them. I have been to many dentists, even low income and have never been treated like this. I should have walked out the first appointment when he tried to sale me veneers. Which I far from need!!! Once a nerve is damaged in your face, it is very unlikely to heal. Beware, just because the staff appears nice doesn't mean the dentist knows what he's doing, this dentist needs to go back to dental school!!

Dr Pfost has been helping me for many years. He is an excellent dentist that works with his patients providing them options and excellent dental care. His staff has always been caring. pleasant and technically proficient.

About Front Desk: The front office staff is great about getting my communications to Dr. Pfost. So many medical and dental offices these days care so little about this aspect of patient assistance. The office staff at Dr. Pfosts office has always been ready to help assist me in obtaining treatment and following up however necessary.

We love Dr. Pfost. He takes dentistry seriously, stays up on research and supports natural dentistry. He is not a pediatric dentist, though both my kids have been with him since age 3. He just has very little tolerance for goofing off. The coolest is the water laser for fillings. It is SO much better than a drill. You don't even need novacaine most of the time (even my kids!) He has special programs for veterans and is trustworthy and skilled. We've had fillings, extractions, whitening, and exams.

About Hygienist: Our usual hygienist is Erlinda and we love her. She is gentle, thorough and lets us practice our Spanish with her.

The office staff is awesome; Erlinda (hygienist) is really wonderful but Dr. Pfost is a different story. My mom has mid-to-late stage dementia and needed dental work. Near the end of 2011 I asked if they could see her (explaining her condition) and they said yes. At that time, Erlinda did 3 deep scaling/cleanings (3 appointments) and another cleaning today with no problem. Mom then went to Dr. Pfost's chair for some filings but wouldn't open her mouth for him. I tried to coax her to open up for several minutes and when he reached in front of her and she pushed his hand away. At that, he unclipped the drip bib and jerked it off her (she was startled and jumped) and said, "Go! Get out of here!!!" I could not believe it. I told him he didn't need to speak to her or treat her that way. I explained again that she has dementia and doesn't understand and process well. He went on to say that he couldn't use sharp instruments on her; I agreed but said again that he didn't need to react like that. He responded, "Well, if she won't do what I say, I'll treat her like a child." Really - that's how he treats children? He went on, "Why is she even here?" I reminded him that he had seen her before and said she needed to have more work done. He said, "Well, she wasn't like this before." Well, yes, she was; they had a hard time getting her to open but then she did and he was able to examine her. In fact, at that time, I had tried without success and he said that maybe I was distracting her and she would respond better to him. I agree that he couldn't work on her like that but I also expect him to be professional and not react out of anger or frustration. I would have totally understood if he had said, "This isn't working; let's reschedule" or even, "I can't treat her" but for him to respond to her the way he did was reprehensible and I will be reporting him to the Board of Dentistry. It makes me wonder how he treats uncooperative kids or anyone else that bothers him. We will be seeking another dentist.

About Hygienist: As I mentioned above, Erlinda was wonderful. She is very gentle but thorough. She explained what she was doing and gave tips to improve dental health.
