This was by far the worst experience I have had with a dentist. I scheduled an appointment for 8:30 in the morning for a routine dental cleaning. I was periodically told by the receptionist that I would have to wait only a couple more minutes to see Dr. Shimoda, but that turned out to be more than an hour. When I was finally seated in the exam chair, I saw the hygienist clean out the sink wearing her examination gloves, but she did not change into new gloves before attempting to start the appointment. I was disgusted and complained to Dr. Shimoda, who finally showed up. I left the office because I was going to be late for a meeting and because I was disgusted by the sanitary conditions of the office. The staff was completely unapologetic about these issues that I raised. I can’t understand how they were so badly delayed for an 8:30 appointment. The dentist gave me the lame excuse that he didn’t want to fire his receptionist, implying that he just tolerates her incompetence. I never write reviews online but I had to share this experience with others to warn them from going to this horrible place.

About Front Desk: Horrible. Absolutely horrible, rude, and incompetent.

Dr. Shimoda's great! He does the work himself and always takes time to answer my questions and inform me of what he's doing before hand. He's very aware that people are different in their sensitivity to pain/pain killers. He gives you choices on fillings (aesthetics versus durability), and has never tried to "sell" me anything - just clean and care for my teeth. He knows what he does well & sends you to specialists as needed (pockets, root canals, etc.). He also keeps up on technology and current developments in the dentistry field. I highly recommend him and would send anyone there.

About Hygienist: Fabulous!! She's fluent in Spanish. I know just the basic greetings, but she always greets me in Spanish because she remembers. She's also very personable and knowledgeable.

I went to Dr. Shimoda for a painful tooth, he was able to immediately help in controlling the pain and then a few weeks later proceded to do a root canal, and eventually will do my bridge. I love Dr. Shimoda, he is a caring and helpful dentist and I have recommended him to all family members and co-workers. With my SEIU Local 4 dental plan, I am able to keep my costs down and get all the work done in a timely manner. Hurray for Dr. Shimoda, a dentist that seems to enjoy the work it takes to help people regain a nice smile.

This office provides an excellent, friendly, no-nonsense, no-pain / low pain approach to dentistry. The office / dental staff and dentists are friendly. Importantly the dentists discuss your insurance coverage and tell you in advance what may be covered and what your anticipated out-of-pocket costs might be. I recommend this office to my friends.
