I took my 4 year old in for tooth pain and after being told he needed two root canals and crowns, I was told I needed to wait in the waiting room and I couldn't stay for the procedure. My son had been in pain all weekend and I just wanted him to feel better so against my better judgment I went to the waiting room. About an hour later I was called back and told that he was being uncooperative and was going to be referred to someone who does sedation, and that they did one root canal and started on the second then put temp fillings in.. I asked if we could try to finish with me in the room, he is four and just had his mouth open for an hour. They refused. So I took him home, screaming about the pain. A few hours later he awoke running a 102 fever and complaining of a headache and tummy ache.. I just returned from the hospital were I was told that he had a tooth infection and I am lucky to have caught it before it got toxic. Am I wrong or is it not common practice to prescribe an antibiotic when doing a root canal or extraction? This doctor is a joke and so is his office staff.
