Please stay away from this office. This dentist will bill many line items not covered by insurance and you will be stuck with the difference out of pocket. We paid over $500 prior to treatment based upon estimate after extensive discussion to make sure the calculations were correct. We did not receive any bills for 3 months that any further balance was due but then received a collection notice. Buyer BEWARE!! I do not recommend this dentist or his office.

I would not recommend visiting this dentist, which is sad because his staff is incredible. The first time I took my children to him, his staff was excellent at making my children feel at ease, but when Dr. Howell entered, everything changed. Seeing as he's a pediatric dentist, I had assumed he would know how to get down to the kids' level, but when he walked in, all he did was sit down and start poking around in their mouths. He didn't bother saying hi, introducing himself, explaining what he was doing, or even talking in any way to them. My daughter quickly became terrified of him. Aside from his not-very-nice bedside manner, I quickly came to realize that he CONSISTENTLY recommends the most invasive, most expensive procedures possible. The end of the line for us was when my son had some cavities that he insisted needed crowns. He said the four front teeth were bad, but when we showed up for the appointment, he came out and told us it was his six front teeth. I had only come prepared to pay for the four, and he was not willing to work with us at all to pay for the work on the extra two, so I just had to have them pulled. I gave him too many second chances, and have regretted it ever since.

About Front Desk: Again, amazing staff, not so amazing dentist.

About Hygienist: Incredible! The only reason I stayed with Dr. Howell for as long as I did was because of his amazing staff. They're SO great at helping put children at ease.

Dr. Howell treated my daughter and it was the best experience she has had. He identified cavities that other dentists chose to ignore which resulted in my child getting infections. Dr. Howell was able to get those corrected and my daughter is doing great.

This dentist is to be avoided. He is merely interested in Drilling for Dollars and wants to sedate children, and do a lot of unnecessary work on them. He told us my daughter had 12 cavities, although only one was visible. We took her to a different dentist, which found one large cavity, and two very small ones. In my opinion doing unnecessary procedures like this is child abuse and should be treated as such. The staff are very nice and personable.

Don't take your child to this dentist unless you are looking for unnecessary and poor quality dental work. We took our children to this dentist on a referral but turns out we were misled. I was shocked when my wife called to say our 5 year old son, whose teeth appeared to be in excellent condition, needed 5 crowns and a filling! It's a good thing we didn't have insurance or lots of extra money or I might have fallen for the whole treatment plan. As it was, we did allow him to do a stainless crown and a filling. That was bad enough. The filling was poorly done and the crown very poorly done and unnecessary and our son was left traumatized by the horrible experience. After this experience, we sought out a better dentist. Subsequent dentists have confirmed my suspicions that not only were the additional crowns completely unnecessary but there were no problems with the teeth at all. If you want an exceptional dentist who has your teeth in mind instead of his wallet, go see Dr. Noot in American Fork.
