I always received the best care from Dr Cohen; however, I only needed routine cleanings. My husband had multiple cavities filled by him over the past 3 years. The doctor never had a conversation with him about what materials he would be using. I thought mercury fillings weren't used anymore by good dentists, so I didn't think to ask. My husband now has a whole mouth full of mercury/amalgam fillings. Mercury is a higly toxic substance. Now we will have to see a dentist trained in amalgam removal to replace all of his fillings at some point. It will be VERY expensive. Doctors owe it to their patients to discuss the different options before treatment begins. Dr Cohen does have other materials available for fillings, although we found this out too late. Only 5 of my husband's 13 (yes, 13) fillings are the less toxic white resin kind. While Dr. Cohen seems like a skilled doctor and is pleasant to deal with, we will not be returning to him.
About Hygienist: On another note, Dr Cohen's staff does an exceptional job. Kathy has always done my cleanings, and she is always kind, gentle, and knowledgeable.
