dr. james twohig should retire asap. he is too old to pratice dentistry, his service is under the standard. he ignores obvious problems that lead to more expensive and painful procedures. especially on older patients. obvious decays under the old fillings and shown on x-rays which ended to losing the tooth and getting implant on that site. may be he thinks that those patients will die before they need to get that problem fixed. his deture or partial patients have to come every other day to the office to get them adjusted.
on the other hand his daughter, at first visit will overwhelm you with an extensive treatment plan after taking unnecessary x-rays or stupid questions ,taking you to consult room and forcing you to schedule a cleaning. if you haven't been to a dentist, she would measure your gums with high numbers, then diagnose you for deep cleaning. high gum numbers will satisfy the insurance requirements to charge the patient and of course when you go to check after a month, lower gum numbers will make you happy that her treatment was successful, and you didn't need that treatment in the first place. everyone needs braces in her book. filling baby teeth that don't need it. before she does cosmetic job for you,quit your job.
About Front Desk: the front desk are two old persons that all day are on the phone to bring the patients in, by calling them several times and as early as 7 am to keep the hygeinist schedule full, with cramping patients together. meanwhile you can see that the dentists have no useful production. practically the hygeinists are making greens in that office.

I have had multiple crowns put in, and also bridgework. All done to my complete satisfaction.

I had a three tooth crown done by James Twohig. The work was shabby and it felt like a large foreign body in my mouth because it was much too big, even after he "adjusted" it several times. He used an archaic spring- loaded tool to remove the bridge to grind it down, which was very painful. Two other (more reputable) dentists said they had never heard of using such an instrument for this. The work was very unprofessional, especially the fact that he makes his own crowns instead of using a qualified dental laboratory. The sterile technique in the procedure was very poor. No covers on the examining light handles, etc. After three thousand dollars wasted, it required my having the entire bridge removed and a new one made by another, more professional and skilled dentist. They also discovered that Dr. Twohig had ground down too much of the teeth beneath the crown unnecessarily. I have filed a formal comaplaint against Dr. Twohig with the New Mexico Dental Licensing Board and have consulted a mal-practice attorney to file a lawsuit. DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST!!!
About Front Desk: A rude older woman with white hair manages the front desk. She is unfriendly and disingenuous. I complained about her to the dentist several times and nothing changed.

Dr. Twohig has been my dentist since I was a small child, and I've never experienced the slightest form of "dental anxiety." I've always felt well-taken care of; his staff is friendly and competent, everything is immaculately done, and I trust him completely. Better, I feel like he's very honest- no bizarre stories about unnecessary fillings or anything like that here, no gimmicky stuff. I feel like he's the best dentist in Albuquerque- although I've never had any other experiences to compare him with, I've never had any need or want to look elsewhere.
