I see complaints.... I have none! I have known him a long time. He is matter of fact, tells you if you are neglecting your teeth but works with you to keep your teeth. His priority is to keep your original teeth at all costs. Heard him say "Yikes" when he saw what was left of a tooth where decay occurred under a crown...after root canal, the crown fitting was flawless!. I have been through a lot of tooth problems....including a hairline fracture deep in the tooth, which he found immediately in 1979 ! Had it for four years, two dentists, and he found it. I drive 15 miles to go to him because I trust him explicitly. I also point out that he has developed a couple of techniques that are now in use by others. If you want fancy-go somewhere else-if you want a professional with long experience-see Dr. Kaufman!

About Front Desk: She is also excellent- and has worked there for years.

About Hygienist: She is excellent and very professional.

My Experience: Other

Absolutely terrible experience. Never written a review for a dentist before, but I had to. I don't want anyone making the same mistake. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Incredibly rude and didn't listen to questions or concerns. Why be a dentist if you hate people?

About Front Desk: I got yelled at on the phone because I didn't know a piece of information was important and saw her be rude to several other patients while in the office.

One word. Horrible. Dr Kaufman is discusting. He is so rude, his secretary is discuting. The only very nice one was Marisol (she is the nurse.) The secretary is disrespectful. Dr Kaufman is rude, cold and he says very rude comments. I wish to report him to someone, he is really a discrace. His cleaning and checkup took a total of 5 minutes.

Stay away!! Dr. Kaufman is extremely rude and so are his receptionists! They have absolutely no manners and are extremely unprofessional. I went in because of toothaches and the dentist lectured me with a condescending attitude rather than being helpful. I was extremely unsatisfied with my experiences with this dentist and I urge you to stay away and find someone that will actually treat your needs!

About Front Desk: Extremely rude and need to learn simple manners. Unfriendly, not courteous, and outright terrible, terrible people who don't care about you!

I have used this dentist for general dental care and root canals for over thirty years. I started with his father in 1970. He has always worked with me to keep the cost of care affordable.

About Front Desk: Known them for years. One of them is a neighbor.

About Hygienist: They change from time to time and usually do the xrays and assist with proceedures.

Hygiene time: 15

A very cold and unfriendly atmosphere. Not thorough with cleanings. NO bedside manner at all! Getting him to explain exactly what he's doing in your mouth is like (no pun intended) pulling teeth. Find another dentist in Glen Cove or one of the surrounding towns. Kaufman is not worth the aggravation.

I had the worst experience with Dr. Kaufman. I recommend that no one uses him as their dentist. As he was fixing my crown he berated and belittled me because I was nervous and cried (not audibly). He displayed no understanding, no compassion, and no friendliness whatsoever. I finally had to tell him to quit lecturing me and get my tooth fixed. When he was finished, he continued to belittle me until I left the office. He just would not stop. I have never experienced anything so horrible from a dentist before. If he had read my chart he would have known that I always use nitrous oxide when having any procedure other than a cleaning performed. I was so shaken up by his bullying and condescending behavior that I couldn't verbalize it to him. After fixing my crown, he would not clean my teeth because I refused the xrays because I'm pregnant. My visit with Dr. Kaufman was humiliating, scary, and unprofessional. Find yourself a dentist who actually uses your name and reads your chart before working in your mouth.

I first saw Dr. Kaufman on an emergency basis when I had an absessed tooth. As a fearful patient who had most recently had a traumatic experience suddenly with my family dentist of many years, exhibiting itself as a lack of patience and an insensitivity for my low pain threshold, I was relieved to find Dr. Kaufman to be gentle, warm and sensitive. I really felt like he cared. He then referred me to an oral surgeon who was also excellent and also accepts Medicaid. Kaufman also accepts Medicaid which is my insurance. And I have heard that it is hard to find a good doctor who also accepts Medicaid. As I had some cracked and missing teeth, he promptly wrote to them and applied for an appliance for me. We received an acceptance within an unprecedented time-a month. I'm still going through the process of that work as I examine alternatives.. He has taken time to discuss these with me. My husband has been going to him for a while and had such a good experience that I thought I'd try him. My 93 year old father-in-law, who has good health coverage chooses to see him, too. Staff is very warm-office is modern & I like that there's a child's play area in the waiting room. I definitely recommend him to all!
