I was assigned to Dr. Grossman by my dental insurance. He is older which I was worried about but gave the benefit of doubt. I am currently 8 months pregnant so went in cautious about having much done. I felt pushed into getting a filling that probably could have waited until after the birth. While waiting for the pain medication to kick in he "cleaned my teeth" and splashed all over my face. That was the first time in my life for that experience. I found out as he was installing the filling that he was using metal. He asked me to rinse and I was surprised to see metal coming out of my mouth. He told me that my baby would be in college and I'd probably still be spitting out metal. I went to the bathroom and rinsed properly and had to use my fingers to pry out all the metal stuck between my gums and lips. I've never experienced this level of sloppiness or anything close. I left feeling like an idiot. I shouldn't have gotten anything done until after baby is born. But trying to be positive, I left hoping the filling would be fine. A few hours later while having dinner, half of my filling fell out. I'm lucky I didn't swallow it. I'm so upset.

About Front Desk: the front desk staff was lovely but it doesn't make up for the Drs service in any way. I would have appreciated the dental assistant giving me a heads up. it's sad that the level of cleanliness and service seemed normal to her.

Hygiene rating:

About Hygienist: I did not have a hygienist. I would have preferred one. he splashed water and tooth paste all over my face. dr. Grossman did the cleaning himself but it did not feel thorough. he did not clean every tooth individually.

Hygiene time: 20

My Experience: Filling, Onlays & Inlays

Duration: Half an hour

I know this doctor: 1 day

Nightmare Experience Went into Dr. Grossman's office for a simple crown replacement, and ended up losing my molar as a result of their bad service. Grossman is easily in his mid to late 70s, and has a female dentist (Dr. Winters I believe) who partners with him. Anyway, they (Dr. Winter did much of the work) replaced my previous metal/porcelain crown that had broken with a new restoration that broke twice. Eventually they recommended a gold crown, and stuck one in that didnt fit on my tooth or in my mouth. The oversized and ill-fitting crown cracked my molar within 2 days of being placed (down to the root) and the crown on the tooth in front of it. The pain of the tooth breaking was unbelievable. As a result, I had to had my molar removed and am now going to have to do a $3500 implant to replace the lost tooth. I have never experienced gross incompetence with a dentist, and assume its pretty rare. BEWARE - IF YOU VALUE YOUR TEETH AND WANT TO AVOID SEVERE PAIN.
