Dr. Wong is the best dentist by far that I have ever had. He is a thorough professional who does the cleanings himself. Each and every tooth is examined and followed up on in future visits. He has pulled my wisdom teeth, filled my cavities, and cleaned my teeth and I don't exaggerate when I see that I feel really good after leaving his office- that my teeth have been well taken care of by a perfectionist that gives his all. In addition, he is very bright, well-rounded, and down-to-earth and our conversations make the visits go even more quickly!

Dr. Wong is the kind of practitioner that is very rare these days. He cares for you AND your teeth. He has been my dentist since 1980 and I loath having to see any other dentist even in an emergency. He has cared for our entire family during those 30 years. I have been living outside of NY and I will schedule exams to coincide with my visits to NYC. His practice is not dependent on a phalanx of hygienists and PA's. When you see Wong, he does ALL the work. (Except taking x-rays). I have experienced some more modern practices with larger facilities. The dentist may spend 5-10 min on a procedure and then off to another chair leaving most of the work to assistants. This will never happen in Dr. Wong's office. He is the best there is.

If I had started out with Dr Wong, I might never have had to suffer through several periodontal procedures. I first went to him because the dentist I was seeing was pushing to replace all my fillings and to get a gum graft. When I went to Dr Wong for a consultation, he gave me a home care plan and told me to come back in six months. It is so refreshing to see a dentist who looks at me as a fellow human being, not as a revenue stream. I especially appreciate that he is punctual: I have better things to do than wait in dentist offices, and I find it especially infuriating to a dentist joking around with the staff or doing paperwork while I'm waiting I wish Dr Wong participated in my insurance plan, but you can't have everything.

Entering into Dr. Wong's bare bones office in the East Village, you believe you're going to get a fair deal. There isn't even a computer there. And, he's friendly enough. However, be sure you ask him how much he will charge you before you go into the exam room, which, by the way, has not had any sort of update since the 1970's (No Exageration!). I just had a simple filling done, and it cost me $400. Yes, that's what I said. It was one of my canine teeth. No crown or bridge to drill through. Just a simple filling. $400. It was outrageous, and I am furious. When I tried to protest, he just told me that that was his price. I have a hard time swallowing that. I mentioned that I don't have insurance, which he already knew, but just shrugged. I will never go to him again, and I hope you don't either.

About Hygienist: He uses his son who is not a dental hygienist. He goes to the local community college, and is trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life.

I've been seeing Dr. Wong about once or twice a year for over 15 years now. He was recommended to me by my boss at the time after I had a bad experience with a fancy Park Avenue dentist --- one of those guys who says "oh we have to replace all your fillings!" I was instantly suspicious that all my fillings would fail simultaneously, so then I went to Dr. Wong who assured my fillings are fine (and they're still fine 15 years later!). Not only is he a great dentist, I always have a great time because he talks about all his travels and his wide range of interests. He's a good guy.

I agree. Dr. Wong is very good at explaining what he is doing and what I as a patient can do to help my teeth. He cares more about your health than your appearance. He is not cheap but worth it.

Dr. Wong's facilities are not like a health spa, but this dentist is brilliant. His passion is teeth and he is inspiring. I think I trust him more than any dentist I have ever been to. He does what is needed, and really well.
