Do yourself a favor and search "best dentist in Columbus" before you make a choice for your next dentist. Dr. Butler may do good work at times, but at a high emotional price. He has no bedside manners, is rough, does not admit fault/take responsibility when botching a job, does not inform patients of severity of work being performed or aftercare. He carries himself in a superior way, tends to demean or belittle you as a patient with snyde remarks and inappropriate jokes. Other negative reviews did a good job describing some of his ways. I would never ever go back to him. Another unpleasant aspect - as you sit in the chair being worked on, you will see everything that is happening to another patient - there are no privacy walls or partitions, you are at full display. And chances are good you will be worked on by a temp assistant who does not have enough skill to be hired permanently, yet is entrusted to finish his job for him, such as adjust your bite with a drill. Overall - I dont know how he stays in practice conducting business in the way he does. Sorry this sounds angry, but this is how his work will make you feel.

A dentist that actually treats overall mouth and not just tooth dentistry. Great experiences

Dr. Butler had a visiting assistant working with him on the day of my last appointment. Long story short, I kept telling them that the assistant was hurting me and I was told I was imagining it, that I had been numbed and could not feel it. I also had told him of pain I was having and he immediately opened my mouth and began to "sand" my back teeth. I tried to stop him and tell him no that wasn't where the pain was. He chose not to listen and continued to do what he wanted. He didn't even use the blue film and ask me to grind my teeth to see if that was truly the cause. I finally got a chance to show him where the pain was coming from and he told me that the brown spot was a stain. I (without training) know it is not just a stain!! The doctor's hands were swollen larger than I had ever seen them before and he stretched my mouth more than necessary. I was obviously crying throughout all of this, but was afraid to have him stop in the middle of everything and be in worse pain. He and the assistant told me I was being overly sensitive and had no reason to cry. I have NEVER been made to feel physical pain let alone cry at a dentist's office before. Dr. Butler is a wiz at marketing himself, but don't believe all the hype!

I found Dr. Butler competent but ill-bred and arrogant for no reason other than his inflated self-conception. Since I changed dentists after my last appointment with him (rescheduled because of his increasing lateness in keeping appointments), I obviously wouldn't recommend him to anyone other than patients who thrive on rudeness and superciliousness. Before moving to Ohio, I stayed with the same dentist for 20 years, and recommended him to all friends and acquaintances, so I am hardly a demanding patient who requires anything extraordinary from a dentist. But rudimentary breeding is certainly desirable in a professional with whom one has regular (i.e., annual) dealings. Dr. Butler lacks manners, whether chair-side or human-side. And his ego prevents him, I believe, from providing adequate information in layman terms to his patients regarding procedures (I say this as someone with a PhD, high IQ, and experience in dealing with academics in sundry specializations). I would recommend Dr. Butler only to those people who believe that a dentist is such an authority that his judgment precludes all questions and explanations.

About Hygienist: The hygienist in the office (Natalie) is first-rate in all respects, and it was a pleasure to deal with her.

Dr. Butler is the best in the business I drive over two hours to go to him and even though he is expensive, you only have one set of teeth. Therefore, he is so worth it!! plus, he takes after hours calls and is super nice!
