Its unfortunate when dentists get old and stop caring about the patients. But from my observations that’s what is going on with Dr. Odlenburg. Ill go through some examples of his quality
1. when getting a crown, he stuck me in the lip twice with the Novocain before injecting it in the correct spot. His response “opps sorry about that” That particular crown still has issues I’m not sure he set it correctly
2. After completing the crown I asked about a follow up for which he stated I should check with my insurance to make sure I’m covered….normally the dentist checks this for you…also I knew I had at least $1K left on my coverage, but he seemed more interested in not seeing me again.
3. The dental hygienist doing teeth cleaning is quick, like shorter than my home dental regiment. And there is little discussion of any issues.

I went to Dr. Oldenbourg for 6 years. The only slightly off-putting thing is that he is not always there during the teeth cleaning appointment. Often I've only seen the receptionist and hygenist. That said I have had no major problems, so maybe they didn't bother calling him in. He did one filling for me which went fine. Facilities are a bit old (don't know if they've seen an update since the 60s) but seem functional still.
About Hygienist: Very polite and quick.

I have about 4 or 5 dentists in my life so far, and Dr. Oldenbourg is definitely at the top of my list. His staff is caring and GENTLE!!! (I'm a big baby when it comes to pain). I highly recommend him.
About Hygienist: Clean.

Been my dentist my whole life, my mom's and grandfathers before that. Kept my weak teeth cavity free my whole life by bonding and re-bonding every few years. ALWAYS on time for appointments.
About Hygienist: Cleaners have good manners and are efficient. Almost never painful.

I have been going to Dr Oldenboug for years. His office is in the Wels Fargo building, one of the older high rises in downtown Berkeley. I like the care I get from him. From the work to the charis side manner I think he is top notch.
About Hygienist: I have had a number of hygenists. The current one, Evangeline is wonderful. No pain. And with my mouth that is saying something.

My dental higyenist was about 75 years old... that was a little bit weird.

Dr Oldenbourg was my dentist for 8 years until I moved out of the area. I recommend him heartily. He has a gentle manner and is considerate of his patients anxiety. I have trusted his judgement and his technicians have always done a good job of my cleanings as well.
