Dr. Smithers is a great dentist. He always takes time to explain the procedures. He helped me keep my natural teeth instead of doing crowns or implants.

Honest, careful, kind, friendly, smart. I could ask no more. I don't think he has the latest machines but, for me, that's a small tradeoff. If he needs to refer me to a specialist, he doesn't hesitate to do so. An old-fashioned, honest, kind dentist. I completely trust him.

About Hygienist: Dr. Smithers does his own cleanings. I love it. He's thorough, expert, and a good conversationalist.

I started going to Dr. Smither about 12 years ago. He was fantastic, but I stopped going to him about 8 years ago because we moved and I didn't want to make the drive to Berkeley. Since then, I have tried several local dentists and none could hold a candle to Tom, and I ended up just not going to the dentist on a regular basis. Today, I schedule an appointment and will make the drive because Tom in the only dentist I trust. He is not only the best and most talented, pain-free, skilled dentist I have even been to, but a great guy.

Great Dentist. Very low pain. Dr. Smithers takes his time to make sure you're at ease. Definitely recommend.

I hate going to the dentist. In Dr. Smithers, I have found a dentist who I am not afraid to visit. I have been Dr. Smithers' patient for over ten years and even while living abroad I made a point of scheduling appts during trips back to the Bay Area. He's pleasant, matter-of-fact, and incredibly honest about the pros and cons of dental care decisions. He's made good judgment calls that have spared me root canals where less customer-friendly dentists would have followed the dollar-signs.
