I went to dr. scharfenberg about two years ago as an emergency because my wisdom tooth was infected and I was in an extraordinary amount of pain. I will say that dr. scharfenberg was great. after waiting for five miserable hours in the waiting room in tears from the pain, he was very compassionate and understanding. I went under and when I woke up he told me it took 20 minutes. (I still don't understand why I had to wait five hours for a 20 minute appointment, but that isn't even the worst of it.) after i woke up, the assistant told me that my crown had fallen off during the procedure. she put it back on, tested the bite and asked me "how does it feel?" I told her it didn't feel right, and she asked "it doesn't feel right? or it feels numb?" I told her again, "it doesn't feel right." this nasty girl then rolled her eyes and walked away. now, two years and about $3000later, I have to get the root canal that was under that crown redone. it got infected due to trauma from the bite being too tall. all because some angsty, miserable 20something year old dental assistant doesn't care to do her job right and clearly does not enjoy interacting with the general public. I will not go back there or refer anyone for this reason alone.

About Front Desk: the receptionist was so rude, on the phone and in person. even when I was sitting there in tears from the pain. I kept asking her how long it would take because I was in so much pain, and every time she answered me her attitude got bigger as if I was some sort of burden. even when I asked her for an ice pack she made a fuss about it. she didnt even offer to have me lay down in one of the recovery rooms, I was laying down across the uncomfortable wooden chairs instead. it surprises me that such a nice and professional oral surgeon would have such disrespectful people represent his practice. it is a huge turn off. I've had reception jobs before and yes they can be stressful, but I would never take it out on a customer or client. it's common sense. all as a matter of fact, I think the receptionist and the dental assistant who was also rude to me may have been related, based on the way they were interacting when I left that day and when I came back for a follow up. the apple doesn't fall far from the tree I suppose.

Working with Dr. Scharfenberger and his office ranks as one of the worst experiences I have ever had with any medical professional. Every appt. was filled with stress and anxiety, and I always had to wait over 45 minutes. He was always running late due to surgery. Keeping this in mind, I scheduled my daughters surgery 2 months in advance, and she was to be the first case of the day. I got there on time, and once again was made to wait, as the Dr. was seeing post opt patients first. This led to stress and anxiety for our daughter. No apologies were forthcoming, and when I spoke to the Dr. he was rude and stated he had to catch up for the week as he was out of the office for 2 days .He refused to perform the surgery, after my daughter was in the room getting ready to be prepped for surgery. With each fo the 4 appts I had , I was made to feel as though the office was granting me a favor by seeing us. I have had a multitude of positive experiences with many oral surgeons and never experienced this type of treatement. I am grateful he did not perform the surgery and have went back to an oral surgeon who treated my family with the dignity and respect all patients deserve. I would NOT recommend this doctor and office.

I ended up going to him after hearing a referral from someone who had a great experience with him. I was extremely nervous about getting my wisdom teeth out and going under anestisia. He is like an angel, so calm and comforting. He administered the needle to me which was painless. I woke up and was fine. I actually went out the same night b/c the pain was so minimal and I felt great. The other 3 he took out for me were impacted and were slightly more surgery but I was confident from the success of the first time that I was completely relaxed. He does a neat job and it extremely efficient. I recovered quickly from the remaining 3 and have him to thank for a great experience in something that most people dread. I HIGHLY reccommend him for any oral surgery. He is the best!!!

A very kind and caring doctor. Takes time to answer all your questions and makes you as comfortable as possible. Very professional and caring staff also. I would HIGHLY recommend this doctor. I would like to add that I felt the cost was extremely cheap because my heath coverage picked up the cost of the surgery with only a minimum co-pay.

Dr. Scharfenberger recently performed Oral Surgery on me, and he is very nice, and very gentle. I have extremely difficult veins, and he was so gentle in searching for a good vein through which to place anesthesia. I felt very confident in him, and had very little pain later, and removal of stitches was done with characteristic gentleness. He was caring, and I especially recommend him for nervous and/or fearful patients. The staff was very kind as well.
