I was in shock when I learned Dr. Beirne was no longer head of the otarolongology/maxillo-facial department. I have an extremely unusual situation of having a left jaw ankylosis and the TM joint had attached itself to my skull and I could hardly open my mouth. Dr. Neil Futran just sneered at me and said, "There's nothing I can do for you". I then went to Dr. Beirne who performed an arthroplasty with TOTAL SUCCESS. I now can open my mouth 7 mm. Dr. Beirne literally saved my life when no one else was willing to perform any operation. He is a hero to me. I can't imagine the dirty politics that ousted this fine man, to be replaced by Futran - arrogant, self-serving and not customer oriented in the least. Sincerely, Judith Hunter
