Chair-side manner is actually good. He makes one feel confortable and relaxed. He is personable.
He is reluctant to replace a 20 year-old crown for me, which I find odd since the existing crown is literally falling apart. We discuss it at every checkup. It is causing me some pain, so it's a puzzle to me that he isn't going ahead and scheduling the procedure. This leads me to wonder about his confidence. So I am going elsewhere to have the work done.
