I have a hard time getting numb and this dentist was not very understanding nor accomodating of that fact. I had to have a crown on one of my molars and while he worked, I felt pain. I told him so and he numbed me again. On the second try ,I still felt pain but he kept on telling me that I shouldn't be. He said he was only drilling on the outside of my tooth. This sounds all well and good, and I agree that academically, perhaps I shouldn't be feeling any pain. But I was!! But now, I felt *dumb* telling him that it hurt. (Because it can't possibly be hurting, right?) So I just toughed it out.
Well, The next time I came for a filling, the same thing happened. I felt him drilling. He told me I shouldn't feel anything.
Finally, I just had to find another dentist. I asked his office manager for my X-rays so I can give it to my next dentist. She gave me one set of bite wings. I *know* I had more than that. I had a panoramic X-ray as well but she said she couldn't find any other X-rays in my folder.
When I went to my new dentist, he had no trouble getting me numb. Indeed, I felt nothing as he was performing a root canal on me. And all this time, I thought it was just in my head.
