I'm giving Dr. Hartoonian the highest ratings because he truly deserves them. I went to him in 2002 for a root canal. The emphasis of the entire office, from the staff to the doctor himself, was on making me as comfortable as possible. Everyone was nice and gentle. I remember Hartoonian pressed my gum very firmly with the Q-tip that had the numbing paste on it. This made the numbing more effective and the novocaine shot less painful than they usually are. And that shot was the only pain I felt; the rest was literally painless. They even had a little pillow to put under my neck. They had a flexible device that held my mouth open for me while allowing me to close it a bit when I wanted to. (My other root canal at a less ritzy place involved either holding my own mouth open till it ached or having it wedged open very uncomfortably.) I'm not narcoleptic, nor do I have nerves of steel, but I was so comfortable during the root canal that I literally dozed a little bit in the chair. Even given that I was sleep-deprived that day, that's remarkable. I can't imagine a root canal being any better. As I recall, the cost was $1800 or so, split between my insurance and me, but it's been so long I could be wrong about that.
