I went to Dr. A in Feb 2007 on the reference of my primary dentist. The dental office is on the first floor of a building in the U District. The waiting room has plush carpeting, there are frosted glass panels, Chihuly like vases and a cart with bottled water and soda, giving the office a plush feel.
Coming back from vacation and seeing Dr. A on an emergency basis, I was dressed very casually. I was a bit put off when the office manager asked whether I could afford the procedure. To settle the issue I wrote a check then and there for $1,800.
The procedure took about 50 minutes. I did experience quite a bit of pain for a bit. I don't know whether it was avoidable or not. No one cared to explain much about whether I should be aware of any post-procedure problems. After the procedure, I said goodbye at the front desk and Dr. A had her head down to see when her next appointment would show up.
I have had no problems with the tooth in the last three months. I would go back to Dr. A if I was lazy and did not want to spend the time to find someone else. But in reality, I have to get another root canal (Yikes), and I am exploring Dr. Short and Dr. Bull or the UW clinic.
