I was previously here 10 years ago for an appointment to remove 4 permanent teeth so I could get braces put on (I was very young, only about 7-8). Thought I don't remember very much, I do remember being in a lot of pain since I was only given localized anesthesia, I was not sedated. I was fully awake during the procedure, and being at such a young age, I was upset and cried and shouted. The surgeon told me to "be quiet" as I was "scaring the patients in the waiting room" which led me to scream louder. Today, 10 years later, I was back for a wisdom tooth extraction and the suction machine broke at the Branford office so we had to relocate to North Haven. During the administration of the anesthesia (thank goodness, I was being completely put to sleep for this procedure), no one had told me beforehand that I was to get an IV put in my hand. The only thing that the surgeon told me to relax and squeeze his hand, even though I asked him what was going to happen next. He replied that if I just relaxed, things would go smoother. It was only THEN, I asked him directly if I was going to have an IV needle stuck in my hand that he confirmed it. He would've stabbed the needle in my hand without my notice, which would be disastrous.
