and turned right around and walked out. Against my intuition we continued with the service. Dr. Gardner quoted us $5000. due to a special he was running. I had to pay $100.00 for the consultation and waited a few months to come up with the $400.00 for pictures/X-Rays. When I returned, my quote went from $5000.00 to oh the special is over but I will still honor your price but it is now $5500.00. My daughter had to wear headgear and a mouth piece until her teeth moved to Dr. Gardners liking. After the third or fourth visit my daughter and I went for a check up and Dr. Gardner asked my daughter if she wears her headgear and mouth piece. Her response was Yes but at night not realizing it, I take it out, well it was over at this point, he blew up at my 11 year old daughter and spoke to her like garbage, then yelled YOU NEED TO WEAR 24/7 DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS?????? my daughter started to get upset and fill up. He said you are not wearing your head gear and mouth piece I can tell you are not telling the truth I have been doing this for many years and you are not wearing it!!! at that point he got up walked away and the staff just stared with their mouths dropped to the floor.

Dr. Gardner is definitely strict. Sometimes kids are intimidated, sometimes they could be outright scared. He, however, is the reason I am currently in dental school. I've had my braces off for over ten years, my teeth are still perfect.

We had two bad experiences with the orthodontist, Dr. Gardner, Yorktown, NY. After being treated by Dr. Gardner, one of our child's smile is "not as wide as it could be," a direct quote from our dentist. Our other child had a tooth turn gray as soon as Gardner put her braces on, because Dr. Gardner “moved it too quickly.” Again, this a direct quote from our dentist. (Can you image the referring dentist criticizing a colleague?) The referring dentist confirmed that it was Dr. Gardner's responsibility/error. Subsequently, we spoke with two other dentists and orthodontists, all of whom a doctor friend referred us to and neither of whom needed our business. All concurred that Dr. Gardner’s work was poor. We approached Dr. Gardner, fully understanding anyone can make a mistake, but Dr. Gardner became belligerent with us. He actually yelled at me, the wife. He would not assume responsibility. Dr. Gardner’s staff is equally mean-spirited and vicious. We are not litigious people and have never sued, but we believe we should have filed a malpractice suit against Gardner. Our daughter's front tooth is permanently gray; even after two endodontic surgeries attempting to correct it.; an expensive and painful mess
