I had multiple unnecessary tooth extractions when I was a child and had /very/ poor orthodontic work. I am now grotesquely disfigured, with my maxilla and mandibles crushed into my face, the skin on my face droops and flaps around, I am going blind due to my maxilla being pressed into eye sockets, my tongue was pushed down my throat (due to everything being pushed in), my face is ridiculously asymmetrical (I was told to wear 2 bands on the right side and 1 on the left for 2 years). I cannot breathe through my nose due to facial asymmetry and a collapse nasal bridge, and I struggle to breathe through my mouth due to my airways being constricted by my tongue and lower jaw. I suffer from constant TMJ pain, sleep apnea, and other skeletal problems that directly emerged from my experiences here.
Extraction / "traditional" orthodontics will always collapse a person's face to at least a small degree- and with an orthodontist like Dr Shepherd, expect the worst of the worst. After adulthood, there is nothing that can be done to change bone structure- do not take a child here if you value his or her life.
Pros?... He's very friendly, and it's very easy to schedule appointments.

Very family friendly. Kids are treated special. I like this Dr. becuase my child always feels comfortable and is able to express her concerns and questions in a posititve environment.
