Inconsistent treatment. Inconsistent, unexpected charges. Egomaniac. Rude staff. Argues and is unprofessional when you bring up blatant inconsistencies. Constantly brings up new problems as dire, then never mentions them again. It's like a parallel universe of insanity.

Unresponsive and unattentive -- didn't follow through on his obligation to report back to our referring pediatrician after a consultation with Dr. Boyd and didn't respond to emails that HE REQUESTED I send to him. Arrogant -- talked at great length during child's appointment about his travels to third world countries and position as a sleep consultant, rather than child's mouth. Expensive -- doesn't accept insurance and keeps a copy of credit card number on file and charges it. Avoid.

About Front Desk: Disorganized and unattentive. Sickly-sweet and fake voices. Avoid.

Dr. Boyd is great. He is extremely knowledgeable about children's health. He taught my daughter about nutrition in a way that she understands. He also provides some of the newest orthodontic options. I recommend Dr. Boyd to anyone with children. I'm confident that my children are in good hands with Dr. Boyd.

we thought dr boyd was a good dentist until my 20 yr old son switched to an adult dentist who was horrified at dr boyd's work and said it was highly unprofessional. terrible decay on 3 teeth worked on by dr boyd and his staff. my son never liked going there because dr boyd also was heavy handed and hurt my son when working on his teeth. dr boyd is a very personable guy and we had no real reason to doubt the quality of his work but my son's new dentist was horrified.

I've been bringing my children to Dr. Boyd for 5 years. I've recently started seeing Dr. Pannaralla. With each visit I grow more and more confident in their team and services. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a gentle and kind dentist in Chicago.

I was very disappointed with the service in this office from the first phone conversation when I asked for a ball park figure of what the treatment would cost so I would have some idea and I was rudely told that I would find out the cost at the time of visit even though I told them exactly what needed to be done. I came in anyway since the office is around the corner from my place, I thought maybe they were busy, big mistake! The receptionist was very rude and did not even look professional. When I tried to find out more information, she couldn't answer my questions about insurance, sounded confused and I noticed who I later found out to be the manager at that place had her back to me the entire time and did not even turn around to help or point her subordinate in the right direction. Dr. Boyd was nice but he needs to hire a more professional staff. Very disappointed for a first visit. I will not go back again.

As much as I adore Sandy at the front desk...I am in the process of removing my children from this practice. It seems that braces and outpatinet treatments at Children's Memorial are recommended all too frequently. It appears as though the practice greatly benefits from services performed at the hospital. After explaining my frustration with the dental office to another parent...she was able to decipher which practice I was speaking of. It appears the buzz has been around for some time about this practice. After asking around...I found a number of parents that have left or are in the process of leaving Dentistry for Children. Many of them chose to leave after numerous, unnecessarily recommended procedures and devices. I was told by the practice that a number of retainers, braces and fillers were necessary for my child...when the devices malfunctioned...the urgency of having it in place was abandoned. It appears that this practice is based on sales not treatment...parents beware!

My children loved Dr. Boyd, but he seems a little over-eager to get braces on them, and he wasn't always clear about the steps in the procedure and the total cost. Nice guy, and he did competent work, but a business man.
