Today, after going to Dr Thurber for over 29 years, I was advised that he couldn't meet my needs and he was cancelling my appointment. No prior warning, no explanation, nothing. That shows you the kind of understanding and compassionate treatment that Dr Thurber provides. If I were you, I would find a dentist that would be more caring and understanding of YOUR needs.

Dr. Thurber was very nice and very helpful. I went to him for problems with my gums. I only was able to see him twice before my $200 bill arrived. I do have insurance so this should have been covered. So of course I argued with my insurance to have them pay my bill. Well they told me they were waiting for some information from Dr. Thurber's office. Well everytime I called they told me to speak with the billing department but she is only in on Mondays and Tuesdays. Well I would call and leave messages but no one would return my call. The office manager called me about my bill and she was probably the rudest costumer service person I have ever come in to contact with. I tried to explain to her about the insurance and she did not care and just kept on yelling at me. Well needless to say I paid my bill right away, and the insurance company thought that his office was so ridiculous that they ended up reimbursing me later on. It is a shame because Dr. Thurber is a nice guy he just has horrible office workers.

The Good Dr. Thurber and I have been acquainted for many moons. I came to Dr. Thurber when my regular dentist retired, or at least that's what he told me. Long story short, Dr T was able to save most of my teeth and did a top job with my implants. Having suffered with dental fobia for years, Dr. T was able to coax and cajole me to better dental health. I'm always proud of a good oral exam, and after all these years he's still interested in seeing me keep his good work last. Thanks Doc.
About Hygienist: Judy, Judy, Judy. Where would I be without you. I'd be some schlub that had to gum his dinner to death. Thanks so much for putting up with my lapses and keeping me on track. I so appreciate the work you do. You make my visit to the dentist a treat.

I had a gum graft using Alloderm--pretty extensive with graft on most of the upper arch. Dr. Thurber was my "second opinion" after getting a consult with another periodontist. It's an expensive and difficult procedure so I wanted to consider two periodontists and talk through the options for graft materials. I liked Dr. Thurber and his approach so much better that I chose him to do the procedure. He presented the options and gave very sound reasons for going with Alloderm vs. the newer product where they don't have data on long term success. He has an incredibly calm, "yoda"-like chairside manner. You have 100% of his attention when he talks to you. I really liked the way Dr. Thurber does the IV Sedation--they use just enough that there was no pain or anxiety at all, but not so much that I felt wacked out with a drug hangover. I used to work with anesthesiologists and I know that its common for IV sedation providers to use more drug than necessary and the patient never knows that feeling so bad post-op wasn't normal.
About Hygienist: Kelley was the assistant--extremely professional, friendly, compassionate. She has been assisting Dr. Thurber for 7 years and it shows...very little chatter because she knows exactly what he needs next.

Front desk was very helpful and friendly. Chairside manner of Dr. Thurber and his assistant was excellent. He was very patient and answered all of my questions. Dr. Thurber also went over all the procedures and options related to my problem (receding gums).
I hate going to dentists, but this experience was excellent. It looks like I will be going back, which is a wonderful testament to the treatment and service at Dr. Thurber's office.
