Dr. Rowan has performed periodontal surgery on me a couple of times in the past. The surgery went perfectly and I had minimal discomfort after the surgery for the first day and then was fine. Given the type of surgery I had, my quick recovery and relatively pain-free reaction are considered excellent. Dr. Rowan sees me every 3 months to check my teeth and perform deep root cleaning. He is extraordinarily professional and a joy to be with. He provides a holistic approach in taking care of me. He is superb.

Brilliant problem-solver. Conservative approach, meticulous attention to detail. Explains everything in layperson's terms. In a few cases where he has been away and I've had to see a referral substitute, I've come to realize this is absolutely the finest practitioner of his craft there is out there. He is so much more gentle than any dentist I've been to, and that's been quite a few. Make him your first call.

About Hygienist: Cheryl: Best I've seen and a lovely person. Very knowledgeable. Unconditional recommendation.

NO REPLY TO THIS LETTER WAS EVER RECEIVED July 16, 1997 Joseph E. Rowan, D.D.S. 630 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10020 Dear Joe: You may recall that, after your referral to Dr. David Momtaheni, he extracted the wrong tooth (an upper molar). I recall it every time I try and eat a steak. Let me add that whether this was the result of a misunderstanding, miscommunication, or incompetence is not an issue. People make mistakes. And I'm not writing in an attempt to assign blame, but to suggest a remedial procedure. When this happened, implants were still rather experimental and very expensive. Things have changed. An evaluation at the NYU Dental Center Implant Clinic assures me that an implant is possible. The cost would be $1,800. If you and Momtaheni split the cost it would hardly constitute a major inconvenience to your fiscal welfare. I think there are moral and ethical issues, here, and this seems an equitable and reasonable suggestion. Let me know what you think. John K. Mackenzie
