Dear Joe:
You may recall that, after your referral to Dr. David Momtaheni, he extracted the wrong tooth (an upper molar). I recall it every time I try and eat a steak. Let me add that whether this was the result of a misunderstanding, miscommunication, or incompetence is not an issue. People make mistakes. And I'm not writing in an attempt to assign blame, but to suggest a remedial procedure.
When this happened, implants were still rather experimental and very expensive. Things have changed. An evaluation at the NYU Dental Center Implant Clinic assures me that an implant is possible. The cost would be $1,800.
If you and Momtaheni split the cost it would hardly constitute a major inconvenience to your fiscal welfare. I think there are moral and ethical issues, here, and this seems an equitable and reasonable suggestion.
Let me know what you think.
