I called the office to make my first appointment with Dr. Polin and was scheduled to see her as a new patient. When I got to the office they said she wasn't there and that I would see someone else b/c she was on medical leave. No one told me that initially. I called in advance of my appointment to see they could take me earlier and they said sure. I got there and was called in and then had to wait for the dentist for 30 minutes in the chair. Dr. Zohar was the only dentist on staff that day and he didn't even introduce himself. He also couldn't work the equipment and needed assistance from one of the other staff members. He did an awful cleaning that took maybe 5 minutes and sent me on my way. Worst experience at a dentist's office. THIS review is NOT about Dr. Polin- but Dr. Zohar. The front desk staff was very nice.

I had my first appt at American Dental Arts recently. The appt was supposed to be with Dr. Roman Trakhtenberg at 4:00, but I was called by the office to come in earlier, being that patients had canceled due to the bad weather. I came in at 3:00 and didn't see the dentist until 5:00. To my surprise, the dentist who entered the room was not Dr. Trakhtenberg, but it was Dr. Polin who ended up being quite rude and not at all gentle. I typically have anxiety associated with going to the dentist, so waiting in the waiting room for two hours isn't something that I'm very happy about to say the least. The office itself had an unclean appearance and some of the machinery was clearly broken and poorly repaired with silver duct tape. Overall, I certainly would not recommend this dentist and will not be going back to American Dental Arts.

American Dental Arts, Dr. Elizabeth Polin, and her associates are one of the few members of CIGNA Dental Care DHMO accepting patients in Manhattan, and there is a reason for that. After waiting in excess of one and half hour each visit, the crown work they did on me was a nightmare I am still dealing with. After close to 5 visits to have them fix it, readjust, and just take the sensitivity away - they failed and gave me a prescription mouthwas that they said would take the sensitivity away. Not only has that not worked, but this weekend I have been dealiing with a very painful emergency on the tooth with that crown. I would not sent my enemies to this location, and I cannot believe that a company like CIGNA which claims a Quality Management Program for all their network dentists would send us to this provider. Hope that this helps others to avoid the nightmare that CIGNA should have helped me avoid by not including this practice in their so-called Quality Management Program.

About Hygienist: While waiting in excess of an hour and half at this practice, I observed various Health Codes concerns that made me asked for them to confirm that they had appropriately cleaned the equipment they were treating me with.

Very poor bedside manner. I didn't even know she was the dentist until AFTER the 5-minute cleaning, when she told me I was all done. Until then, I thought she was the dental hygienist. She never once introduced herself or asked if I had any questions.

I found this dentist through my insurance network and had the worst medical or dental experience I have ever had. The first time I went, I was made to wait nearly an hour and a half in the waiting room, and then she wasn't even ready for me! I had to go back to work so I rescheduled. At the rescheduled appointment, I still had to wait an hour before being seen! During the cleaning, she was short and brusque and then stepped out for 15 minutes to take an obviously unimportant personal phone call! (She did this right outside the room, so I overheard the entire conversation!) To top it off, I felt that the cleaning was not done well. She scraped some plaque, but did not polish. I vowed right after that visit to find another dentist ASAP.

Dr. Elizabeth Polin's chair-side manners are unacceptable. She is rude, cold, lack people skills n people care. My 1st. visit should've given me a clue, when i went to her with a broken front tooth ,in which she was going to let me walk out her office without giving me a temporary bond ,while having to wait 4-8 wks. for medicaid to approve a root canal n crown. I literally had to request it, in which she did, without desire. The bond lasted less than a mon., even though i ate bland ,soft foods. I'm a Chronic Hep C, Lupus, Tmj, patient that needs special care and nourishments. When i returned to her office a second time n asked to re-do the temp. bond, she refused me n dismissed me in front of her patients stating, NO, I'M NOT GOING TO GET PAID FOR THAT". I was left standing there while she ignored me, or stopped to speak with me to resolve this very, important issue with me. I commuted in 2 buses across town to get to her office, had made a previous appt. to see her, and i was stressed, humiliated, fatigued, and saddened by her behavior towards me. I feel patients shouln't be treated according to their heath insurance. I feel her behavior lacked professionalism and doctors like her shouldn't be serving the public.

I was kept waiting almost two hours for a scheduled appointment. I could hear "screams" coming from the treatment room while waiting. The receptionists spoke to each other in Russian and were reluctant to answer my questions about anything. They did not accept personal checks and required payment "up front" in full before I was even seen for treatment. The office was dirty. When I asked the Dentist whether the anesthesia he used was Novocaine, he told me "Novocaine was never used. It had been out of use for the past 15 years." I saw this as a very bad sign: obviously because this is not the truth. The Dentist sprayed water from the drill all over my face and when I went to wipe it off he told me, "Don't bother, plenty more to come." This was a terrible experience, sort of on the level of Marathon Man. I could not wait to get out of there. I felt disrespected and understood how many of my own patients feel at the mercy of "Medicare Mills." This was an experience worth of nighmares and little else. I changed my practitioner immediately thereafter and would not recommended this practice to anybody. I never met Dr. Polin, and have no idea whether she exists. L.P.

I felt rushed in and rushed out, with little explanation of my conditions or need for various treatments. Felt a bit lost when I left.
