Dr. Baral has always provided great care and advice on care for my teeth. He doesn't recommend anything you don't need. The office is very nice and all that work there are very caring and have wonderful chair-side manner. I recommend him to my friends.

I have had just about every possible procedure known to man in Dr. Baral's office over the past quarter century. He has always been thorough, gentle, accommodating and is a true master at dentistry. I have recommended his office to family and friends. I have had lifelong dental issues and he is the first and only dentist to have addressed them in a timely manner with a long term plan to save my teeth as long as possible and in comfort. He has responded to emergencies in the past on off days and hours and always completely relieved my pain and problems. I would highly recommend his service to anyone.

I have been going regularly for cleanings ($60) and checkups. Eccentric style, but shows care & gives economical advice. Takes Delta HMO.

Dr Steve is the gentlest Dentist Ive ever gone to. Hes straight forward with you and has a great since of humor. I just love him! The energy in the office is very calming and extremely clean. As a first time mom I asked him at what age do kids need to start seeing the dentist? He recommends bringing them in at 10mths and every 6mths after that so the child gets to know the dentist, get's familiar with having them look and feel around in their mouths. Once their ready for the real check up they will be familiar with the people in the office, know the routine and what to expect. They wont see it as a scary experience. I thought that was brilliant! Tim who works the front desk is so helpful and very knowledgeable regarding insurance inquiries. I have to say I look forward to my trips to the office and when stated most people think Im crazy!! J

This dentist was so rude, belittling and condescending that I walked out of my first appointment without finishing. It takes a lot for me to do that, but after the 5th insult, I was done. The guy at the reception desk who answers the phone was also very rude over the phone. In person he was a little more pleasant but he had a really bad cough and was coughing all over my paperwork and insurance card. I had my baby with me and he originally wanted me to park my stroller in another exam room....are you kidding??? Anyway the dentist came in and when I turned to look back at the stroller he said, "I'm sure whatever you're hiding in there is fine, you need to focus your attention on me now." Can you believe it??? He asked me what problems I was having with my teeth. As I started to answer, he interupted me with a finger to the mouth "shushing" motion and putting his other hand on my shoulder and then proceeded to ridicule me seperately for having my wisdom tooth pulled, having mercury fillings and basically anything that I told him I had done in my mouth was wrong. He said that today I was going to learn what is really going on in my mouth. He asked, "Why did you have your wisdom tooth pulled?" I said, because my dentist told me I had to, it was impacted. He said if your doctor told you to get a hysterectomy would you just do it? You need 18 fillings, do you believe me? You need to be a big girl now (I'm 37) and be responsible and educate yourself." All the while he's smirking and looking up to the ceiling. After every single question he asked me he would condemn my answer. He was so condescending after I had asked if the bond he suggested would hold my tooth together permanently that I said, "I'm just asking you a question." I finally had enough and stood up and said, "I'm leaving." In the most taunting way, he said, "Best of luck to you dear!" I was so angry, but held my composure. All I said was, "You're very rude," as I walked out. Something tells me that I'm probably not the first patient to walk out on him. This is not a human being that should be interacting with others. He should consider working solo on a submarine that has no dock.

This is one of San Diego's finest dentists. His priority is the health and well being of his patient. He makes every effort to perform needed procedures in a pain free, caring manner. Excellent.

During my first office visit, Dr. Steven Baral was so rude and inappropriate I actually got up and left before the exam began. While he was taking my dental history, I told him that my last visit to have a cavity filled was unpleasant and painful. I explained that "she.." He interrupted and quickly explained, "that is your first problem, your dentist was female." He went on to explain that "women should never become dentists. Dental school is too difficult and if a woman is able to complete it, you don't want her working on your teeth." He explained that "women should not be dentists OR doctors...but it is OK for women to become pediatricians." So I got up and left immediately solely because he really believes that women are inherently flawed and unable to successfully perform dentistry.

HIs bed side manner was appaling. I am wary about leaving too much information here as his office have my personal information and I do not want anyone to know who I am in case of retaliation. That is how much he intimidated me! One of the meanest peopel I ever met. I felt like a criminal rather than a customer. The thought of paying this person makes me feel phsycially ill. The facilities are very modest. Small cubicles for each dentist they have so you have very little privacy.
