I like Dr. Burgess at Bird Rock Dental in La Jolla, CA very much. He is a very nice person and an excellent doctor. His large office is comfortable and casual and he does excellent work. I have had several tooth colored crowns done by Dr. Burgess and I am happy with all of them. They look so natural. No one can tell that they are caps.
Dr. Burgess now does laser dentistry. He recently returned from New York where he attended an advanced Master Laser hands-on training. The laser is great! It makes having crowns and fillings done faster and easier.
I have seen several of his hygienists for teeth cleanings. They are all excellent. Some of them are now using laser also.
I highly recommend Dr. Burgess to everyone!!! He is not as expensive as some of the other doctors in La Jolla, either!

Dr. Burgess is friendly, warm and caring, and he or his associate have responded quickly to any emergency we've had. He has also referred us to very good specialists when necessary. HIs downside is sort of the flip side of his upside -- sometimes he seems to have emphasized keeping the cost of his services down, over giving us he best possible care for our teeth (which can be more expensive). This is reflected in both the less than start-of-the-art equipment he uses, and in taking some financially cautious approaches to treating our teeth over medically cautious approaches (again-- less versus more expensive).
His work is above average, his staff and hygienists are excellent. He really excels in choosing good people to work for him.
All in all, I would say he's an excellent choice for a local dentist, but perhaps not for major work.

Dr.Burgess is a great dentist, easy to communicate with and caring. His crown work is excellent and painless.
The office although not like a spa is clean and comfortable and his staff is very friendly and helpful.
My hygentist is "Jenny " and she's fabulous - the best !
she's extremely caring and very gentle and thorough, a very likable person.

Dr. Burgess was highly recommended by friends and I was quite happy with the results. His main downside IMO is that his facility is in a cramped, dense area that is fairly inconvenient to get to from outside LJ.

Super good guy, great communications, very professional. Pretty much the best dentist I've ever had.
