I went to him a few years ago and paid a lot of money for a crown. I never had a single cavity my whole life. He told me I needed a bunch of other work. I came back and paid for cavity fillings and he said I needed MORE work! I couldn't afford it so I went without. I've since been to two other dentists. Both agreed I don't need any other work. They asked who put the crown in and said it was crappy work. Dr Glen is a crook. I should have filed a malpractice suit but its too late now.

Dr. James Glen, La Jolla Dentist, TERRIBLE, destructive dentist. Do not allow him to perform any work on you. Dr. James Glen, La Jolla Dentist practices TERRIBLE INVASIVE dentistry. He is an old school dentist (drill and fill). He does not keep up on latest dental practices (no continuing education), current dental technology (review his equipment), or current dental materials. He basically destroyed the whole left side of my mouth, resulting in root canal and tooth loss/extraction due to his overly invasive/aggressive drilling techniques. I will now suffer a lifetime and potential more tooth loss because Dr. James Glen, La Jolla Dentist ruined my teeth. It is costing me thousands of dollars to repair

6 unecessary crowns that were put in my mouth. I was cavity-free until I entered his office and BAM 6 crowns all at once! He seemed knowlegeable, so I went along with it - he is the professional afterall, who's advice I SHOULD be able to trust. There were actually about 4 more teeth he wanted to crown, but he had maxed out both of my dental insurances, so I did not receive any more. During my next visit to the dentist (a new one!), no cavities....not even one in the other 4 teeth that allegedly needed crowns. It has been many years since this work has been done, but I am still unfortunately paying for it when a crown cracks or falls out - these teeth would have been just fine otherwise. DEFINITELY seek another opinion before you let him grind away all your teeth and your money!

dr glen is the nicest dentist you will ever meet he is most concerned with dental treatment, not making the most money he can. he is honest and spends a lot of time explaining what his ideas are. (sometimes too much time) his assistant will keep you laughing and comfortable during treatment. its a great place to have work completed on your mouth. his work is excellent and he's been my dentist for 13 years. i have never had any trouble with his work and the esthetics are outstanding i highly recommend dr. glen and janice to all interested patients

Dr. Glen has been my dentist for over 10 years, in a little cottage by the sea in La Jolla. He is technically excellent, up-to-date on all the latest materials, and is also a very gentle man. He has a wonderful private practice that he's built over the years, with himself and his assistant Janice. They are a terrific team, and put the patients very much at ease with their expertise and warmth, and especially Janice's wacky sense of humor. Now my husband goes to Dr. Glen, and my kids will someday, too. I am a fairly high profile professional, and it's important that I have a nice smile. After years of doing my basic maintenance dentistry - replacing old fillings, teeth cleanings, crowns, etc. -Dr. Glen created some beautiful porcelain veneers for me. Several of the teeth could have needed root canals, but he found some high tech polymers that helped to preserve the nerves. This was a situation where I would have otherwise been in braces for years. I just love the way my new smile looks - for the first time in my life, I am not afraid to smile with my mouth open.
