11/08/11: 'Be Careful of Staff'
My initial visit to Dr. Axam was right after breaking a tooth. She was great, saw my right away, and my insurance covered the temporary filling she gave me. She is a nice enough person but be careful of her staff. They pumped up her prices by labeling a subsequent routine follow-up visit they had scheduled as another emergency visit that I requested. My insurance refused to pay so it left me paying out-of-pocket. Then when they called to schedule a cleaning I refused to accept it until they told me my out-of-pocket expense... this caused an angry response labeling me as having issues. Yes, I do and my biggest issue is you calling me to schedule appointments that are not wanted or needed. Stop calling me, I'm not coming back.
In today's economy things are tight... perhaps for dentist too but don't try to get it all out of one patient. They pushed a bag of toiletries with toothpaste, plaque dye, floss, and other junk in a clear plastic bag for over inflated prices; then they want to push their Oral-B toothbrush. That stuff cost almost $40 and my wife pointed out that she can get it all at Walgreens for less than $9. This seems a likely enough venue to relate my experience and it was not pleasan

Great Dental experience, I would recommend Dr. Axam to anyone, young or old. Friendly, patient, clean environment, great dental work and hygenist.

Dr. Axam has been my dentist for over 20 years. She is also the dentist for my mother, who recommended her to me all those years ago. She has also been the dentist for my 16 year old child, since she was 2 years old. Dr. Axam is professional, considerate and very gentle with her patients. She has been instrumental in helping to maintain the dental health of myself and my family. Any procedures that I have had, have been pain free. Her office setting is nice and the staff is courteous and professional.

DR. AXAM IS VERY PLEASANT AND PROFESSIONAL. HER ASSOCIATES/EMPLOYEES ARE VERY PERSONABLE. I WAS AT EASE THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PROCEDURE. SHE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING AND IS VERY GENTLE. I CAME INTO HER OFFICE IN PAIN FROM A WISDOM TOOTH BUT LEFT QUITE COMFORTABLE. PRICING WAS RESONABLE COMPARED TO MY PAST 2 DENTIST. NO INSURANCE PROBLEMS. I GOT A CLEANING, WISDOM TOOTH REMOVAL, XRAYS, & DENTAL HYGIENE COUNSELING. THEY ARE VERY THOROUGH.

After having a very poor experience with Coastal Dental, I was pleased to discover Dr. Axam. The office looks extremely rundown from the outside, but inside it was clean and pleasant. Although they didn't have every bell and whistle for patient comfort, this was more than offset by the kindness and courtesy demonstrated by Dr. Axam and her staff. The hygenist, Christy, was very gentle and thorough, even though it had been a few years since I had had a cleaning. They seemed more concerned with patient education than with selling me services, which was a refreshing change from other dentists I've been to. Although I did buy an electric toothbrush from them, they didn't push it, and I bought it because the price was well under retail. Dr. Axam did a very comprehensive exam. Not only did she answer any questions I had, she asked several times if she had addressed everything. I would highly recommend this office to anyone who wants good service with a minimum of fuss.

Dr. Axam is very calming and explained in detail every step of what she was doing and what needed to be done in order for me to have healthy gums and teeth. Extremely pleased!

Had my first visit the other day. Dr. Axam is very thorough and really knows her stuff. I felt confident that I was receiving very good care.
