DO NOT PURCHASE A MOUTHGUARD THROUGH THIS GUY!!!!!!! He does not know how to adjust them. I was in so much pain and discomfort the first time I went to try on my new mouthguard and he told me I had to get use to it. After going in numerous times for adjustments, phone calls complaining about how much throbbing pain I was in and finally a BROKEN TOOTH from my mouthguard never being adjusted properly by him I finally went for a second opinion. In ONE visit to another dentist my mouthguard was adjusted properly and finally felt good in my mouth. I had to have almost $3,000 worth of work done on the tooth that broke because he put a post and filling in that became infected. My mother also went to him and after chronic pain in her mouth from work he did and after what I went through with him she went for a second opinion and was told he did a "hack job" in her mouth. My fault for trusting my dentist, I should have gone elsewhere sooner. STEAR CLEAR OF THIS BUTCHER SHOP

I've just gone in for regular check ups and cleanings. The office is a little small and older, but the equipment is up to date. The hygienists do a great job and are very friendly there. Dr. Skoog is usually very fast with his examinations, but he's never told me I have any problems. I recently had to have a friend in a different state check me out because I chipped a tooth when out of town, and he noticed a cavity that Dr. Skoog missed only a week earlier. It makes me wonder if he's too rushed and trying to get too many people in and out of there. He hasn't done any real work on me, so I can't judge him on that, but the routine exams/cleanings have been fine.

About Front Desk: They are efficient and set you up with another appointment before you leave.

He was the only DDS I could find in my area in network. I went to him with 6 cavities. He did the work and always was rushing. He has a bunch of hygienists do all of the prep work and then rushes from room to room to complete fillings. Most of the time he works on another patient mid way though your filling. Anyways, I have since moved away and went back to my family dentist I had been going to since a child. ALL 6 cavities George Skoog filled have decay underneath the filling. I can understand one or maybe 2 of them having decay (as it happens) but all 6? It most likely is because he has numerous things going on at once and does not pay attention. I would not recommend him

I had a horrible experience there. None of my dental problems were ever treated and yet I ended up seeing the dentist every month for about 6 months for "cleanings." The hygenists do a more thorough job than the doctor himself. He is very rushed and spends very little time...never really treating the main problems. I will never go back to that office again.

he's ok, does a good job...I don't like that they don't have voicemail and they force you to schedule an appt regardless of whether or not you know if you are available. Without VM to reschedule you end up having to call them multiple times if they are on lunch.

All of my experiences have been fair to very poor, and I've been seeing Dr. Skoog for 20 years (couldn't switch because I was under my parents' dental plan). Dr. Skoog seems to take a very "hands off" approach; he's not about preventative dental health, that's for sure. He prefers to wait until something goes wrong and forces you to make a series of appointments scheduled over several months for treatment that should/could be taken care of quickly. It's not uncommon to go in for a cleaning and then wait 2-5 months for a filling. Sometimes you have so many distant appointments scheduled that you have no idea what you're going in for when the day arrives. (They don't tell you while they're working either.) When I raise concerns about my teeth, my questions are commonly ignored or poorly answered. There is a clear lack of communication between doctor, hygienest, and patient. They had SIX YEARS to fix all the cosmetic problems after I had my braces off and it never got done! A few things were addressed, but 'til this day I have ongoing trouble. According to DoctorOogle.com, Skoog's dental practice is ranked 17 out of 18 in Palatine, IL. There's a reason for that...

About Hygienist: It's a mixed bag. They have a fantastic hygienist, an older lady with blonde hair, I don't know her name. A few of the others are AWFUL.

Dr Skoog is great. I have been going to him for over 15 years and my 10 year old son has been going at least twice a year since he was 2. Dr. Skoog is patient with me - I get very anxious. He is great with my son who has had at least 3 cavities filled. He is virtually painless!

Dr. Skoog is average at best. Not proactive with care. Feel like he is hoping for the worst so more work can be done. Heavy turn over of staff. Has very specific hours for answering the phone which is 50 % of the time the office is open for business. Practice is not patient friendly. Billing errors due to the low level hourly staff he has hired to work the reception desk.

Doctor Skoog is very good. I feel very relaxed and comfortable around him. He has a lot of appoints , he good. If you don't fill out the mailer card or take the "next appointment card" of course your not going to remember easliy. Goerge is very good, go to him.
