I was referred to go for an evaluation of a bony mass seen on my x-rays. Dr. Tate came to the room after waiting for 30 minutes. Even though I had my x-rays, he asked to get me new ones which turned out to look similar to the ones i had. I asked what the mass was and he answered sarcastically that it could be thousand things listed in a wide book and separated his thumb and index fingers about 7 in wide. He expected me to remove the mass without further discussion nor thought because when i told him i wanted to think about it, he immediately wanted me to sign a form refusing surgery and that he was not responsible. His attitude was not comprehensive but sarcastic and intimidating. I left his office crying and scared. Without hesitation, I decided to go to a second opinion which was the best decision I have ever made. I looked on the internet for other surgeons in Bloomington and went to Dr. Timothy DeVitt. He was extremely understanding, explained my options well and performed the surgery successfully a week ago.

Hygiene rating:

About Hygienist: The hygienist was very unfriendly and seemed to be in a very bad mood. She called me in and showed me where I was suppose to go with a tone as an order. I even felt like a little kid in trouble or someone going to jail. I immediately felt unwelcomed and a bother to her.

recently had my wisdom teeth pulled by Dr Tate and I have never been in so much pain before. consultation and overall surgery felt much too fast and although I paid to be knocked out I woke up several times when they were working on me and it was terrifying. Went back the next day in tears because of the pain and they essentially told me to suck it up and ration the small amount of laughably weak painkillers they prescribed me. They told me this is normal but I don't see how. I have never been in so much pain before. I am extremely unhappy with Dr. Tate and will never go back or refer any friends to him.

On 6-18-12 Dr. Tate extracted a tooth from my 13 year old. He never greeted us with an introduction ("Hi, I'm Dr. Tate") or made us feel welcome. We waited over 50 mintues before we were seen or even addressed by the office staff (after the initial paperwork)....a simple "he's running late" would have been nice. A very long time to wait considering two younger children were also with me. The waiting room was not family-friendly...no activity center for little ones and I had to request a soap-opera on tv to be changed. 60 min after appt time we saw Dr. Tate. He began explaining the procedure, talking down to us as if we didn't know why we were there or that we didn't know what decision we made (only wanted local anesthetics). I was then asked to leave the room. I insisted I stay with my son. Three different staff came to argue with me and tell me that Dr. Tate does not want family members in during procedures. Again, I insisted I stay with my son, who also requested my presence. Again, I was given every explanation of why I was not allowed to be with my son. I furiously left the office. I never signed over my right to leave my son and it is wrong for a doctor to request that. I will never return.

About Hygienist: Staff did not honor my request to stay with my son during the procedure and refused to consider our judgement and evaluation of the siuation. Office staff did not give any explanation of why the doctor was running 60 minutes behind schedule or acknowledge our wait time.
