Dr. Nelson "missed" several cavities causing me to have 1 root canal thus far. I don't think he even looked at the x-rays. After changing dentists and getting my previous x-ray from Nelson, I was shown the spots that show cavities. The only crown that I have (put on by Nelson) became loose in less than a year causing more damage to my tooth. The problem was that I was on cloud nine thinking that my x-rays were good, oral habits were good, everything was peachy. Then when I had to get the root canal the truth came out.

After reading patient reviews of Dr. Nelson, I realize now that I'm not the only person who had a horrible experience in Dr Nelson's care. This happened several years back. He also talked about me instead of to me. This unusual way of communicating was noted by another patient. He kept putting temporary crowns on a tooth that I eventually lost because he either couldn't or wouldn't finish the job. I returned to his office at least 10 times for the temporaries. I finally realized he was not going to finish the job. I went to another dentist who took an xray of the tooth. the new dentist told me the tooth needed to be extracted because it was in such bad shape. It was also infected. I received no antibiotics for the infection from Dr Nelson. The new dentist was outstanding. He treated the tooth and the infection. If it had been handled competently to begin with, the tooth might have been saved.

I would not reccommend anyone to use this dental service. I had a root canal and a crown. The crown lasted 3 days and came off. When I went back to Dr. Nelson, I was informed that the crown could not be placed back on and the tooth would have to be removed. I had already paid for a root canal and $500 for the crown that is now useless! I was referred to an oral surgeon and asked to pay for that office visit. I was also referred to a periodontist for gum surgery. After the crown incident, I switched dentist and was told that my gums were healthy and I did not need surgery. I did find both Dr. Nelson and his staff to be friendly.

The facility and equipment are out-dated. It didn't feel like the cleaning was done thoroughly. There was no tongue cleaning and I had to hold my own suction tube. I didn't get my free toothbrush either and I had to go buy one. Dr. Nelson talked about me, but not to me, which I found very odd.

Very judgmental, uncaring manner. His staff do only the most rudimentary dental cleaning. Flossing is a quick in/out zip, zip thru the teeth, no effort to get below the gumline. My new hygienist & dentist both agreed that the buildup on my teeth coming into their practice had to have been older than the 6 months since seeing Dr. N. Please, your teeth are too important to your health. When you go to a dentist who does NOT do his job, you are taking on a higher risk of heart attack (periodontal disease is assoc. with higher risk of M.I.) or even premature delivery (yep, period'l. disease contributes to this, too). My son was in tears during an extraction for braces when Dr. N. refused to stop the treatment for further pain management. THAT was the last straw of 2 years of very poor care from Dr. N! My son was holding his finger up, the prearranged signal for pain, and Dr. N. kept telling him to hold on. This went on for at least another 10 minutes of sheer torture, & I feel very guilty for not stopping him myself. Whatever, we now go to a great dentist, also rated in this website. Dr. N. has been in practice for DECADES--the fact that he still accepts new patients should give you a clue. WE LEAVE! W.P., RN, MS

Dr. Nelson was very kind while performing the procedure on my tooth. His staff was pleasant and the receptionist could not have been any more nice to me. Dr. Nelson eased me through what would have been a very unpleasent procedure. It was my first time at his office and I plan on going to him again when i next need dental services.

Horrific! The office was dirty and dusty, the equipment was old and the decor looked like it was all the stuff cleared out of a garage and thrown randomly around the office. The walls were grungy and full of scratches. The doctor's chair-side manner was rude, flippant and inappropriate. I went in with a sore tooth with a crack in it. He never looked in my mouth with a mirror or used a light. When he kept jamming a pick into the sore spot he had the nerve to ask "What do you keep jumping for?" He continued to speak to me in an inappropriate and unprofessional manner and I had zero confidence in his abilities. I'd let my teeth fall out before I would go back in there.
