Very kind Dr. who takes a minimalistic approach and is not quick to jump to excessive amount of dental work if not truly needed. Also, very good with my pre-teen daughter who had bad dental experiences prior.

I went to Dr. Van der Hoeven for about 10 years, and my parents still go to her! (I moved out of the area a few years ago). We have had nothing but positive experiences. The cleanings are done by hygienists, but the Dr always comes around to do a check and make sure that everything looks good. She also did my fillings herself, and did an excellent job -- no pain, perfect the first time. The office is bright and pleasant (or as pleasant as a dentist's can be!). I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dentist in the Issaquah/Sammamish area.
I can't speak as to the previous person's experience, as our costs were always billed directly to our insurance.

Dr Van Der Hoeven is a great dentist and has done good work on my teeth in the past. I had an devastating and extremely negative experience in which I will never refer this dentist to anyone.
After showing up about 7 minutes late for a scheduled visit, I was told I could no longer be a patient since I was late once before (10 minutes) and had to cancel a previous appointment the year before at the last minute (because my mother passed away and I had to fly to NYC to bury her!!). They told me to find a new dentist!!! As a paying customer, that was by far the most humiliating and cruel treatment I have ever experienced from any service provider anywhere!!!!!!!! I must also add that this was quite interesting experience since on more than 1 occasion, the dentist was late attending to me as a patient as I sat there with cotton balls in my mouth waiting to be seen!!!
Only big, fast money talks in that office only and by the way, do not be late or you will get an F on your report card and could be expelled!!!!
