I took my boys to Dr. Zeno when we lived in Norfolk cause he was close. We moved to Northern VA, and saw another guy a couple times. Last fall, my oldest, who has always had excellent teeth (except his adult teeth tend to come in before the baby ones fall out) was referred to an orthodontist at his annual exam - presumably to have a couple baby teeth pulled. Before we even saw the ortho, his staff was talking to me about scheduling appts for braces, talking about costs ($$$ thousands), and chastising us for waiting so long - major scare tactics, but they had "diagnosed" him before seeing him. The dentist said he couldn't pull teeth - just refer to that ortho. So...after calling a couple other places with 6+ week waits for another opinion, we called Dr. Zeno who graciously worked us into his schedule on a day the next week when we happened to be going to Norfolk. He pulled the offending teeth and strongly advised against braces, saying we should wait 6-12 months because the minor problem he had might correct itself. What a breath of fresh air! And very nice staff!
