I usually see another dentist in Dr. Barton's practice for checkups but was scheduled with Dr. Barton for two procedures, a wisdom tooth extraction and a root canal. I got the impression that my regular dentist was less comfortable doing these procedures than Dr. Barton. Both times, I was somewhat apprehensive about how painful the procedures would be. I needn't have been. Dr. Barton completed both almost completely pain free, and I was very happy with his work. His manner was friendly and confident. There was a minimum of personal interaction, but I did not feel rushed or that he was not sympathetic to my qualms. The practice itself is a bit like an assembly line. The hygienists seem to have a lot of authority to read X-rays and make assessments, then the doctors spend a minimum amout of time checking their recommendations with a fairly cursory exam. It is all very professionally done, and the practice is very high-tech as far as exam machinery and treatment options are concerned. I like having teeth cleaned with the pulse tool rather than the old-fashioned pick-like devices. The staff is friendly and tries to make the visit as pleasant and pain-free as possible, but the work is not cheap. I would recommend Dr. Barton, however.
