Dr. Kylene yelled at my mom in front of her other patients because my mom had tried to schedule my brother and me to have our teeth cleaned at the same time as my mom had been told she could do by the hygienist. After two years of having it not work out like she had scheduled it, she asked why it continuously wasn't happening that way since she had been told she could do that (she just wanted to be able to properly plan visit lengths around our schedules), and Dr. Kylene just lays into my mom. Very unprofessional, embarrassing and rude.

Cleanings were always uneventful since the tech did it. However, when my daughter finally needed expanders and we dealt with Dr. Fernandez on a more regular one-on-one basis, I was disappointed at her lack of empathy towards my daughter's fears and her desire to communicate with me, the parent. On our last visit, since I will NOT take my daughter back, it ended with my daughter returning to me in the waiting room and she was crying and left totally unattended . I had to go find Dr. Fernandez who was not at all concerned and was even annoyed that I wanted to discuss why she was crying. Parents are not allowed to accompany their children due to HIPPA regs but there were four patient names on the sign-in sheet with telephone numbers and an address change clearly visible to anyone signing in...uh, HIPPA violation?? I entrusted my kids to her but she was unsympathetic to their fears and to my concerns. She lacked the ability to communicate effectively with us and even had the treatment plan wrong. We will not be returning and I will gladly pay another dentist to finish what she started.

About Front Desk: No complaints with the front desk. They were always very helpful.

My ex-wife always took the kids to see the dentist. When we got divorced I took them to see another dentist and they didn't like him so the following year I went back to Dr. Fernandez. First her staff yelled at me for waiting so long to take my kids to the dentist because they didn't realize they had been somewhere else. Then, I was not allowed to go back with the kids. My daughter checked out fine, my 2 boys both had 4 cavities each, supposedly. When they gave me the treatment plan, there were a ton of charges not covered by insurance. I called my insurance and the explained how the dentist was charging more than what they usually allow. When I called to ask them about this they were very snippy. I ended up bringing my boys with the supposed cavities to my current wife's dentist. Guess what? No cavities. They showed me the dental films. Dr. Fernandez made up the cavities to get money, I assume. I will never go back to Dr. Fernandez and I would not recommend her to anyone.

About Front Desk: Front desk was not helpful with my insurance questions and were rude and snippy and rushed me to get off the phone.

This office is suppose to be for kids but they are not kid friendly. They have very poor service, limited hours and cancel appointments. My biggest complaint is they will REFUSE to treat your child if you want to go into the exam room. My child had a check up in the fall and the Dr. did not even have the courtesy to consult with me, she sent her assistant to talk to me in doorway of the waiting room with all of the other noise and confusion. Two of the other assistants are very rude to the kids and have very little patience. The Dr. does seem good with kids but to run this kind of operation she must not really care much about them.

Dr. Fernandez has significantly changed her dental practices in the last 6 months of 2011 and early 2012. I would NOT recommend this dental facility anymore. My review of Dr. Fernandez in 2010 or before would have been high, but is now quite unfavorable and after more than 7 years of going there with multiple children, we are no longer going there. Although several practices/procedures have changed, my key issue is that parents are not allowed to be near their children during any procedure, except cleaning. If you child needs 3 teeth pulled, you as a parent cannot be anywhere near them. Parents are not allowed to view or know what is happening to their child/children.

This is the third time in one year that my 6 year old has been seen by Dr. Fernandez. His first visit was due to a referral for surgery. And believe me he has never forgotten the feeling of being put under. The whole way there he asked me not to leave him. I'm upset today because the assistant asked me to wait in the waiting room so she could perform x-rays and cleaning. She told me she would come and get me when the doctor came in. Anyway, I got a real good look of the waiting room......and that's all I seen. My son came out scared and in tears while I was told that he's all done, we fixed the problem. hopefully you won't need to come back for this again. I felt like fast food and decided to make an appointment with a pediatric dentist that will answer my questions and cares about their patients feelings. And not to mention it would be nice to meet this person again after a year. My son don't know this person and what he does remember is upsetting. Plus, mommy did not keep her promise.......thanks!!

Dr. Fernandez and the staff were very supportive with me as a mother when our 3 year old needed dental work. Very compassionate.

My two kids LOVE Dr. Ky. She has seen them since they were old enough to go to the dentist and they have never experienced any anxiety about going to the dentist as a result. (Wish I could say the same) They have had cativites filled and have never complained about pain. Dr. Ky is patient (with both parents & patients), kind, fun and positive and her staff reflects this to create a worry free atmosphere for kids when coming to the dentist. I would not hesitate to recommend her to others and, in fact, have done so in the past.

We have been very happy with Dr. Fernandez over the past 10 years. During that time, all our children's dental work has been done with her. We chose MetLife Dental Plan with my new employer last year because Dr. Fernandez was a MetLife Preferred Dental Plan dentist. We were recently disappointed to learn that she has left the PDP program. Even worse, this change has occurred during the middle of the calendar year and just before our 3 sons' scheduled appointments. We have to decide whether the increase costs are worth staying with Dr. Fernandez. We will likely choose another dentist for our boys.
