My son has been going to Dr. Sosa for about 2yrs now. He was referred by our primary dentist. I have had nothing but problems each and every time we go for his dental visits. Rather than do their job, they expect you to do the follow-up and get all authorizations handled through the insurance companies. I dread making dentist appt's with them as it is an act of congress to have anything done. I would not recommend this pediatric dentist to anyone.

About Front Desk: The office manager is very unprofessional and is flat out rude to deal with. If you're looking for problematic dentists and employees, this is the place. They treat you horribly!

We took our 4 yr. old in for an exam with Dr. Sosa. He had three cavities that needed fillings. Dr. Sosa said she wanted to use nitrous oxide. I was very skeptical as there are risks with nitrous oxide. She said it was safe. I wanted to speak with his pediatrician. We made our apt. for the fillings. I called his pediatrician and the Dr. said absolutely NO. He has asthma and is on albuterol. It would be a risk. We went in for our apt. I told the receptionist we would not be doing the nitrous oxide. Dr. Sosa came out with an attitude already and asked what did I want? I said we would not be doing the nitrous oxide due to the pediatricians recommendation against it as well as a bad family experience. I said he would be fine and is very patient. Dr. Sosa became very irritated and said she was the dentist, we were in her office & if we did not do it her way with what SHE decided was best then she would not fill his teeth!!! She had a ridiculous ego and was so unprofessional and rude. I could not believe it!

On May 3, 2011, I took my nine-year-old and three-year-old sons into Dr. Rossanne Sosa’s office, and an hour later, upon leaving, I was appalled by the way a professional serving the public would treat a family. My wife and I both hold professions that require strong interpersonal skills - I am a Paramedic, and she is an elementary school teacher - so we are fully-aware of the importance of honest, appropriate communication. When working with families, it cannot be a one-man show, rather, it is a partnership in which the best interest of the child needs to remain at the forefront. Dr. Sosa clearly has not embraced this. My son needed a filling replaced, and because my wife’s insurance had just changed, this was the third dentist we had visited in just two months. He had just previously had x-rays taken, which we had in hand at the visit. Dr. Sosa needed consent to take further x-rays of the entire head, and I was concerned about his radiation exposure, being that x-rays had just been taken a few weeks prior. Dr. Sosa was agitated and offended by my simple questioning and request for her to further explain information to me before giving my consent for this procedure. She became rude, condescending, and judgmental, all of which was portrayed to and in front of my sons. Throughout the visit, she attacked my parenting skills and ability to give my son proper dental care because he had not been seen in her office for over four years (though he had been seen in other offices under our insurance every six months), stating that I “needed to stop making excuses and own up to the fact that it was my responsibility to bring him to HER”, even if I was paying out-of-pocket. I explained to her that I wasn’t trying to skip the procedure – I wanted the work done on my son - I just needed all of the information in order to make an informed decision, but she consistently interrupted me, repeatedly stating that I “just need to go find another dentist to do the work”. Again, I calmly tried to explain that I didn’t need another dentist – I just needed her to stop the attitude so that we could work it out. She threw down his file and walked away, demanding that we leave immediately. I just needed his x-rays back (which belonged to our family) and I would be gone, but it wasn’t that simple. In a controlling show-down, she refused to hand over his x-rays, insisting that I be ushered out first. Once again, this huge display of lack of discretion and professionalism all took place in front of my two sons, who were horrified. We have taught our children that a large part of developing character is having the confidence to be assertive and ask questions when you need clarification. When it comes to your healthcare, we must be as informed and knowledgeable as possible – it’s our responsibility. My children were confused and scared at Dr. Sosa’s lack of self-control and display of anger and impatience. Dr. Sosa is clearly irritated and frustrated with parent involvement and interaction, and I believe that she needs to strongly consider the implications of her negative, patronizing attitude, especially considering that she works with children and families. She should NOT be practicing with children/families, considering her abrasive, verbally-abusive manner, and I have reported this to the CDA.

Dr.Sosa should be ashamed to call herself a pediatric dentist. We went there a couple of years ago because I wanted a dentist that specialized in children for my then 4 yr old. Not only was she condescending and rude, shh'ing me when I tried to comfort my child and then asking me to leave the room! She does not seem like she has the patience it takes to work with children. Then to boot, her services were expensive and unnecessary. I was willing to let it go until several months later I received a bill from her office trying to charge a "behavior modification" fee because she had to spend extra time with my child while she was looking at his teeth! Excuse me, you are advertising yourself as a pediatric dentist, you do not get to charge extra fees for working with a population that you chose that happens to take more time. That was the last straw! I had forgotten about it until today, when another dental office in the area recommended her, and it brought up old flings. I am seriously surprised she is still in business. I would never recommend Dr.Sosa to anyone.

In my second visit to Dr. Sosa with my daughter within five months I had a HORRIBLE experience. It all started off well until I told Dr. Sosa my daughter had to receive some emergency treatment for a root canal that should have been done at her office four months ago pending insurance approval! I could tell she was upset by this and didn't bother to call the referring dentist to see what was done, but rather took x-rays and saw the root canal had been started and other work too. Dr. Sosa said it was MY responsibility to know what was done and pretty much made me feel like I was an unfit parent for not taking my daughter back to her instead of her primary dentist for the emergency treatment. I told her I had no choice when this was the first time in five months I received a call back from her office. She said she had double booked appointments for my daughter's treatments and that since I had chosen to go the primary dentist, now the entire treatment needed to be completed there! She turned my daughter away, I guess not enough money to be made now, when I called my daughter's primary dentist the work was temporary until she saw Dr. Sosa. My daughter didn't get treatment and all it would of taken from Dr. Sosa was a phone call.
