Dr Shepard recommended me for an implant, $5,000.00. I acquired Dental Insurance with a well known carrier, called a week ahead of my apt. with Ins ID#, staff never called ins co., told me my ins did not cover a cleaning when it did 100%,Asked to be rescheduled, called Bus Manager blamed me rather that correct the problem with her young millennial lazy staff, no customer service. Asked Dr Ryan to call me to discuss problem, he declined to call me an sent me a letter dropping me as a patient. Harvard trained, but not very smart move. I was a referred patient of 30+ years and have never been treated so poorly.

About Front Desk: Dress Nice, but lazy with a smile. All they had to do was verify my insurance a week before my apt. My ins.Benefit Source which they use everyday, but i am out of network? How is that possible? Very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Uptown Dental Associates billed my insurance for an exam even though the Dr. did not examine my teeth or mouth. When I called, Uptown Dental Associates said they would remove the exam from the bill but their policy is to do a comprehensive exam on the second visit and bill insurance on the first visit since insurance will not pay for a comprehensive exam after the initial visit. I said that was odd since 1) that’s an assumption that I would return and 2) my insurance has always paid for checkups in the past and as a new patient wouldn’t you want to perform a checkup on the first visit even if it’s not a comprehensive exam. I notified my insurance company of this fraudulent billing practice…and I will not go back to Uptown Dental Associates.

About Front Desk: Couple of other things stood out, the front office staff behavior is unpleasant and condensing, I had to sign an estimate of future services I inquired about, and the office looks worn e.g. the hygienist chair arms looked dirty but were actually worn out.

About Hygienist: Wonderful Hygienist!

I know this doctor: first visit - he took over the practice when my dentist passed away

Nice guy. Well trained, Harvard! Friendly staff, gentle hygienist. Didn't try to push extra procedures. Moderately expensive but what medicine isn't these days.

Dr Shepherd is a nice guy but he plays the part. Not quite sure he knows what he is talking about half the time even though he likes to fall back on the fact that he went to Harvard. He hardly checks my teeth after my cleaning. I have had a pain for 7 months now and he can't find the problem. Its time for a new more experienced doctor. And the hygeinist cleaned my teeth in 10 minutes. How does that work? How about a half priced cleaning? Never again!

Nice person but does not inspect your teeth after cleaning , only see the hygienist which I found unusual. I had a tooth recrowned, had to wait in the chair for over an hour, had mouth gag in and taken out again while I waited, lidocaine injected too early, did not work by time he got to me, had to have further injections. Facilities good, office staff pleasent but made two mistakes on my bill one which was not her fault as something had been ticked in error and I had to have it corrected. I dont think I will go back.
